  • Summary: WCP 2 features Howard Lederer, Greg Raymer, Clonie Gowen, Amir Vahidi, Paul Darden, Robert Williamson III, Matt Savage, and Annie Duke. World Championship Poker 2 features a much more detailed one player game, where you now have to work your way up the ranks, starting in your mom's basement. Once you start winning and accumulating money, you can spend your winnings on increasingly better pads, and furnishings. Hit a losing streak, and you may have to hock your stuff to stay in the game. 14 types of poker are featured, including Texas Hold'em, Five Card Draw, Seven Card Stud and Pineapple. Expand

  1. The long-time problems that do and will always hold gambling videogames down still exist here, mainly the fact that human emotion and reaction cannot be duplicated and gambling with fake money isn't always satisfying when you can pull a real game together with your friends, but with all elements considered there simply isn't a better videogame simulation of the popular card game to be found.
  2. Newcomers and poker addicts alike should all be pleasantly surprised by World Championship Poker 2's simple, easy to learn interface and addictive gameplay.
  3. While this game still falls short in a variety of areas, the nuts and bolts of the poker playing are in place and are perfectly tweaked.
  4. The best poker game on the market. Not by much, but it is nonetheless. The career mode, quick play, and multiplayer aspects of the game all combine to make a nice little package for your hard-earned twenty bucks.
  5. Presentational quibbles aside, though, this is a really good game. A bit more polish (and by 'a bit' we mean 'a lot'), a few more career options and some recognisable licensing and this could become an essential purchase for poker fans.

WCP2 features nice AI and a healthy singleplayer career plagued by many presentation issues and a lack of second year polish. There's also a run-of-the-mill multiplayer game.
  7. Grueling career mode will make you want to cut off your right hand. [Jan 2006, p.75]

Every single time I play career mode and try to beat a tournament with 250 or 300 players the game freezes on me. I have bought two games thinking that maybe I got a dud, but both games did the same thing. I will never buy another CRAVE game again. Collapse
