DarylC.Jan 21, 2007515 is a paradox. It is flawed, and is ironically superficial. However, it is also decidedly important for such a flawed film, as Tan attempts to make a film which discusses bold and controversial topics, marking an important step in the development of Singapore's film industry and exploring Singapore's censorship issues.

johnb.Jun 1, 20059An excellent and moving portrayal of teenage life in Singapore. Not too hard to pick fault with various aspects, but overall a beautifaul piece of work. Infinately superior to the usual Hollywood output that insults my intelligence on a regular basis.

Directing real-life street kids, Tan abruptly shifts focus from one character to another, as if mimicking their impatience and short attention span, and like Godard he playfully subverts his own material by having actors address the camera directly, spouting cultural and political asides.

30The law of averages demands that every once in a while a movie must come along starring young nonprofessional actors who aren't very good. That's unfortunately the case in 15.

80It's not a pretty picture, but it's an important one.
