A hugely enjoyable shambles. It’s a comic deconstruction of that most useless of Hollywood artifacts — the blockbuster sequel — that refuses to take itself seriously on any level, which, face it, is just what we need as the summer boom-boom season shifts into high gear.

Rare is the film that understands the pleasures of letting an enraged Ice Cube take out his wrath on an all-you-can-eat buffet. And which other blockbuster in 2014 would interrupt its climactic car chase to lob in a gag about Benny Hill?

A great deal of insanity ensues, none of which would work if Tatum and Hill weren't so disarming in their roles. Their level of comfort with the characters and each other helps 22 click.

There are certainly a lot of actors who can match Hill and Tatum as comic actors, but it’s the oddball connection between these two that makes for a very entertaining couple of hours at the movies.

22 Jump Street squeezes every last drop of comic inspiration it can get from Tatum and Hill, as well as the very notion of a sequel to such a superfluous enterprise.

As funny and batshit insane as the movie often is, the fact that 22 Jump Street knows it's a tiresome sequel doesn't save it from being a tiresome sequel, even as Lord and Miller struggle to conceal the bitter pill of convention in the sweet tapioca pudding of wall-to-wall jokes.

Really?" it kinda felt like it was rehashing the first movie a little bit. but all that aside, like i said: "22 Jump Street" is the most hysterical buddy-cop comedy we got so far this year. and i'll be damned if this wasn't better than the first movie, cause yea it was better and funnier. (with the most hysterical end credits ever!) Expand

The movie was funny, exciting and the best part was the twists and turns in the movie i mean the movie itself is the same case from 21 jump street so you would think its funny but not as good as the first one. Also many comedies do make a sequel if they are successful such as anchorman, Bruce almighty etc and they aren't as good as the first one but 22 jump street..oh no it was fantastic so far out of seeing the biggest movies this year X men, Godzilla, Spider man etc also being a Die hard marvel fan this movie was the best i've seen this year i haven't laughed this much at a comedy and i have not witnessed a audience laugh as much also. I don't want to explain the plot because you just need to see it seriously this weekend go and see it and you will get what im on about. Expand

"We shoot dicks off here at jump street"

Ah yes its rare that a reboot is successful but what's even more rare is when the sequel to the reboot is just as great if not better than the reboot itself. 22 Jump Street is pure awesomeness with plenty of action, and laugh out loud humor, i seriously did not stop laughing from start to finish because right out of the gate they had a little "previously on Jump Street" thing then it goes into a montage of clips from 21 Jump Street which was funny to me because it was a little nod to the tv show. I even cried a couple of times because of how hilarious the movie is which honestly was a great thing because after watching that crap Seth Macfarlane Western Comedy "A Million Ways to Die in the West" i needed a movie that would with out a doubt make me laugh and this delivered on all cylinders. You know that saying "If it ain't broke don't fix it" because that's basically what the directors and writers did with this and surprisingly it worked.

Following the events of 21 Jump Street Morton Schmidt (Jonah Hill) and Greg Jenko (Channing Tatum) are hot shots at their police department but instead of sticking with the Jump Street program they decide that they want to tryout being real cops protecting the town. While on a undercover mission they get made out to be cops and a big shoot out and car chase happens but the bad guys happen to get away with the drugs. This is when they get talked to again by their Chief (Nick Offerman) who then says they are being put back into the Jump Street program so they don't mess up anymore. Only this time the Koreans bought back their church so now they have a new kick ass headquarters that's across the street at the Vietnamese Church with "Vietnamese Jesus".

From here we figure out the movies story which for the most part is the same as the first. Some new synthetic drug is making its way around a local college and one kid has died taking it so now its up to Schmidt and Jenko to get in and find out who is making the drugs. Once they are in college the movie has plenty of hilariously crazy moments also many awkward "Bro" moments mainly between Jenko and his new friend Zook (Wyatt Russell) which compared to Dave Franco who was the main new friend in the previous movie was a letdown as he wasn't funny at all at least Franco was a likable douche this guy was just a douche. Schmidt's story when at college is kinda the same as he has a girlfriend which at times does kinda slow the movie down but it SERIOUSLY pays off later as it leads to one of the most hilarious parts of the movie.

What's cool about this movie's villain is that he was a major villain from 90's movies and its great because he is always bring up the past like when they are talking about the drugs he asks why not stick to older drugs like "coke" or "heroin" as those were the main drugs of choice for movies back then. Another great part was Nick Offerman's part and just like the first he talks **** about the actual movie saying " Ladies nobody gave a **** about the Jump Street reboot, but you got lucky. So now this department has invested a lot of money to make sure Jump Street keeps going." its things like that which can make a movie based off a tv show awesome.

Overall i give it a 8.5 Jonah Hill and Channing Tatum absolutely have amazing chemistry together and considering that 23rd Jump Street was teased a couple times throughout the movie i would love another one but seeing that this is looking like a $55-60 million dollar weekend for 22 Jump Street another sequel is bound to happen. Ice Cube again was flipping hilarious with his stand out vocal acting in which he steals every scene he is in.

They also mine lots of comedy from the bromance aspects of their partnership. Tatum is even more hilarious with his thick-headed dumbness. Toss in some enjoyable supporting characters and fun action sequences. It rarely happens, but it seemed like this was better than the original. It's a genuinely funny movie. 22 Jump Street took my by surprise, because it is as good as 21 Jump Street. The chemistry between the actors is so effective and sometimes22 Jump Street took my by surprise, because it is as good as 21 Jump Street. The chemistry between the actors is so effective and sometimes heartwarming, most of the movie is a laugh out loud fest, and it is not overfilled with raunchiness and crudeness, it is surprisingly heartwarming despite using the same formula used in its predecessor. Jenko & Schmidt are undercover cops, who after the success of busting out drug dealers in High School, they are out looking to bust drug dealers in college, it is obviously the same. But it is all about how they handle the movie or under handle the movie, in this case the sequel is as good as the first if not carrying some scenes more effectively, for ex: the action sequences which are tense. Jonah Hill & Channing Tatum are really great in the movie, Ice Cube is hilarious in this movie, the best part so far, and the end sequence is actually really funny and very creative. 22 Jump Street is as good and hilarious as the first film, at some parts better but formulaic and copies off the first, "for goodness sakes I saw the twist coming!" but it is still a fun and over the top, if you liked the first one you will also appreciate this one, it is the perfect movie for the weekend. But it doesThis movie surprised me when I saw it in theaters, I thought it would have a few good jokes and be the typical cheesy squeal. But it does better then that, I found myself laughing out loud consistently. The movie is every self aware, they never break the forth wall but if you listen to the dialog you can tell when they are poking fun at the movie it self. Jonah Hill and Channing Tatum do a great job together again, seeing the improv lines they do adds a nice touch.22 Jump Street is also directed by Phil Lord and Christopher Miller, the guys who made The Lego Movie/21 Jump Street. The story doesn't have much to it, but it's not the reason you are watching the film. It's nice to see that they know the movie they are making is ridiculous and they take every chance they get to take a jab at the movie.
If you liked 21 Jump Street or looking for a lighthearted raunchy comedy look no further.

Poor script, dumb plot, weak acting. Not funny at all. I've seen a lot of cop buddy movies and this one stands out as being one of the worst. Slap stick can be funny but this sure isn't. Ice Cube carried what little this sorry movie had to offer and his part was far too little. Whatever team wrote this script should be fired. The director should be embarrassed to death having his name attached. Save your money Expand
