JohnP.Oct 16, 200410Truly worth the wait. Movies can't get any better than this! A hopeless romantic's dream come true. Truly, for all of us that have been in love.

RosselineSep 9, 20048I love a film where the words are the story and the characters are like people you'd meet on the street. Yet, like it's equally entrancing predeessor, the conversations are too many, and they blend into one another. Afterwords, they don't really have the grip you, or they, would like. Still, a beautiful film.

-
SamJ.Jan 7, 20050Perhaps the most overated film of all-time! A dull, pompous and egotistical dialogue between two hopeless bores. It reeks of self-importance, but it goes nowhere.
-
-
PeterJ.Feb 1, 20057While the movie started very slow and almost bored me into stopping it, it did eventually pick up and held me interest to the end. Although the ending does make you wonder if I have to wait 9 more years to see what happens?

JennyA.Aug 11, 200410I was so genuinely touched by this movie. The honesty and sincerety of the writing is unlike anything I've seen in a long time. What an amazing collaborative effort this was.

PaulD.Aug 10, 200410Terrific script--romantic, yet revealing. Julie Delpy is simply wonderful. Go see it!
-
-
JoeB.Aug 14, 20048It is the the kind of movie you think about days after. everyone seemed to miss the picture of celine and the grandma after she said she died. So why wasnt she there in Vienna.
-
-
RonaldVSep 7, 200410I was completely hypnotised by these two utterly utterly believable characters. I love it!

OltjonD.Dec 2, 200510It's wonderful, and also a great story narrated in a great way. So romantic that cannot be described.

mariakJan 8, 200510It was beautifully written and very honest.

BillyFeb 10, 200510Very good movie. Even better if you have seen before sunrise. It's not really a date movie as much as an observational one, of which we all know how these characters feel.
-
-
markw.Feb 17, 20059I'm hoping for a same kind of intervention after watching this film! 9 years is a long time, but maybe love is worth the wait.
-
-
TLSuttonFeb 6, 20059Although I strongly recommend seeing "Before Sunrise" before seeing this one, it can and does stand alone. If you like free-ranging, witty, observant and emotional conversation, you'll love this picture. If not, then not.

-
AAndrewsMar 5, 200510Beautiful. Sensual. Emotional. Perfect. It will blow you away.

-
blownawayMay 7, 200510People who didn't find it beautiful just probably haven felt love in that surreal way... the whole show, the dialogues and the unspoken feelings just blows you away... definately one of my best.

MichaelD.Apr 3, 20062Bought this DVD as saw it reviewed and favourably compared with 'Trainspotting' Alas it is light years away from the very good aforementioned flick. Possibly the most dreary, uninteresting movie my girlfriend and I have watched. Paris outshines the human cast in this movie.
-
-
EdisonF.Apr 6, 200610I love this movie because there's a girl like Celine in my life. I could not be with her because I will go abroad this fall. What a pity! I hate reality.

CY.May 3, 200810Strange hybrid of incandescent emotions and real life messiness; sublime yet grounded dialogue; and the most unabashedly romantic slice of life cinema since Brief Encounter.

SteveHJul 31, 200410No Hollywood tripe or drivel. This is as honest as it gets - very natural and believable. A veritable masterpiece - and this is from someone who loves has a disinclination for even the better "chick flicks" like Serindipity, Bridget Jones Dialry and Hope Floats and prefers the likes of Alien and Independence Day. I did like Lost In Translation though.

-
-
eternalsunshineApr 16, 200510One of the best films, I ever saw - or 100 times saw. I love the dialouges, the song, the poem in Vienna, the memories of their childhoods, every single word. And it wasn't only a one-night stand.
-

PatC.May 9, 20058Two people in search of romantic closure. A little spotty on the moral compass implications that would arise after such a long separation, but genuine as far as it goes. All is revealed in a stroll through the Latin Quarter of Paris, with awesome sound work that crisply captures the dialogue as the action moves in long takes through live settings.
-
-
LisaH.Jun 24, 20059I loved this movie. It emulates me and too many of us who are lost. The characters are so real, beautiful. So honest.

SomethingSep 10, 200510A masterpiece! Linklater is a genius! Entertainment like this is rare because it is at once provocative, funny, and breathtaking. Those who don't appreciate it know little about what cinema really is. One of the finest stories ever told.

P.S.Mar 22, 20069Simply the best film of Linklater, at least so far. So simple, so real, so sincere. You can only love it.
-
-
DavidS.Aug 28, 200610I loved this flic almost as much as the prequel Before Sunrise. Is it possible that the rating given to the pair of movies is simply a reflection of our own romanticism? By the way. I'm an old fogie.
-
-
AnaC.May 17, 20079A very captivating and interesting story. Celine's personality suites a woman's emotions and points of view. Hidding the emotions first, then bursting it all out when you're too overwhelmed by your emotions. You can't appreciate the story if you won't put your full attention to into it.
-
-
A.G.Jun 19, 200710It is very clear from the wording of comments that rating is directly related to level of intellectualism and an experience of real sensational love.
-
-
VianW.Aug 27, 200710A Very clever - Romantic movie i ever saw, this movie tells a lot about the connection, meaning of love without a single 'I Love u' word, but we feel a lot of emotion and love experience from the start till the end. Standing applause fo RIchard Linklater.

KoreyE.Dec 27, 20043A chick flick with out the flick- this should have only become a book. sorry.

BuniT.Jul 12, 20049I enjoyed the movie while watching it, but what surprised me most is that I keep thinking about it long after. With such critical acclaim, why aren't people flocking to the theater to watch this movie? This movie really left an imprint on my heart and reminded me of the joys of romance.

JeremyTSep 27, 200410I saw this film over 3 months ago at the Auckland film festival. And yet here I am scrolling thru Metacritic reading reviews trying to recapture the magic of those 80 minutes! Everything about this movie, and especially its ending, haunts me. Perfection.

-
-
SWilsonNov 21, 200710classic. unique. real. I understand why your standard movie goer wouldn't get what they wanted out of this movie, and there's nothing wrong with that...but luckily I'm not that kind of person. If you're introspective and extrospective about the world, this movie will work for you.
-

OshayneG.May 21, 20072The movie is really different and monotonous being no exception. It doesn't progress, I'd recommend this to old people!

SimonW.Dec 12, 200510I was so glad I saw this before I saw Before Sunrise. It is a much better movie. It probably didn't even need the original. People who don't like this movie are too lazy to work for it's rewards.
-
-
MichaelM.Dec 26, 20097I rented this based solely upon the rating on this site. Truly, it was a unique story, though a bit slow off the mark. It came around enough for us to recommend, yes. The gal is compelling, the dialogue quite believable. The story involving a "real-time" visit was very intriguing. The ending certainly left us to wonder.

Oct 4, 201210Astonishing. Not just incredibly well-written and wonderfully engaging - you never feel like it's film because there is always a great sense of reality to it.
Amazing. -
Jan 8, 20139How often can you study love on the big screen? My ex lent this to me as an example of what love "should be like". I guess I can only agree that it portrays romantic love as realistically as one could ask of a movie. The ending is great since it makes you reflect on your own hopes and expectations.

80The sequel is an uninterrupted 80-minute dialogue between two richly imagined and performed characters.
-
100This is one of the most wildly romantic movies in ages.
-
75There is something uniquely unforgettable in the way Linklater, Hawke and Delpy (equal collaborators on the script) find nuance, art and eroticism in words, spoken and unspoken. The actors shine.
