Warm and loving, a good slice of the bear sub culture.

A flawed but interesting film about the sub-gay community called bears. However, it sets a dangerous stereotype for this community as simply promiscuous and drug consumers.

Wonderful and realistic. What more can one say about it? It is very witty and powerful. However, the ending in my opinion was somewhat weak. TO call this movie banal as the LA Weekly did, is to not do it justice. All of those who criticize this movie so severly, surely must have issues with the themes shown, or perhaps with the masculinity of the gay characters. As a gay man that Wonderful and realistic. A moving story about a mother, an uncle, and a grandmother and their love for a child. And, at last, a "gay and lesbian" movie where gayness is incidental to the plot rather than the focus of it.

Much smarter than the average comedy.
  2. At the end, Bear Cub does have a brush with sentimentality. But by then, its integrity and low-key truthfulness has been certified in a dozen different ways.
  3. A compassionate, life-affirming Spanish comedy-drama.
