Everyone has piled into this dumber, sillier, more consistently funny reprise with an enthusiasm that’s infectious, and not in a low-grade medical way.
Whatever the reason, the waning months of 2014 have brought us the follow-up to 1994's "Dumb and Dumber", but the lengthy gestation period hasn't resulted in an appreciably upgraded experience.
THIS IS THE BEST COMEDY I HAVE EVER WATCHED THIS YEAR!!! The family and I loved it!!:) Even my little sister and brother who are age 8 and 10 enjoyed this! I loved and laughed every second of this movie and I really hope they make another one!! Fingers crossed!
Jesus Christ have some appreciation people.
1. Don't compare this to the original. That was 20 years ago.
2. Carey and Daniels had really no reason to do this movie other than because they wanted to. I realize this is breaking the 4th wall, but the knowledge of who these actors are (and how old they are) makes the physical comedy especially hilarious.
3. There is some seriously dark humor in here that I think people are missing.
The visuals remain homely and brutally efficient, the plot convoluted but the pacing brisk, and the humor often inventive and resourceful — and just as often tired or offensive (to women, people of color, gays and lesbians, old people, take your pick).
Carrey and Daniels are good actors, and it's understandable when an artist wants to revisit a career-high point. How much you enjoy Dumb and Dumber To will depend greatly upon whether you think "Dumb and Dumber" was one.
To give the film its due, the stupidity is served up with energy and good pace. But it takes a thin premise and stretches it like Silly Putty. The title should really be "Obvious and Obviouser."
The original film was unpredictable and loose and every so often gave up the aura of dangerousness. If anything, the sequel is a tepid, watered down, and at 100-minutes oftentimes boring attempt to recapture the magic but without any of the whimsy.
This was WAY funnier than the first one. I saw it at the Cinemark with my friends and it was one of the best comedy movies out there. If you guys and gals have time, watch it, it is the BEST.
Certainly not as good as first one but still many funny moments and makes you remember how great first one was and still Jim Carrey and Jeff Daniels are really funny actors.
After twenty long years, Harry and Lloyd are back AND... most people didn't care. Despite the success of the first film, the Farrelly's waited far too long to bring the pair back. Everyone who grew up watching the first film are adults now, and the demographic they were going for with a PG-13 rating, has no idea who Harry and Lloyd are, hence the disappointing numbers at the box office. In this long awaited sequel, Harry (Jeff Daniels) is in need of a kidney and finds out that his only living relative is a daughter he never knew about. That's all it take to get Harry and Lloyd back on the road for more antics AND... they tried too hard. The original film was legitimately laugh out loud funny, while it's sequel may lead to a snicker or two. The beauty of the original is that it was so simple and so stupid that you couldn't help but laugh. The new one is full of long running pranks, modern slang the pair don't understand, and just obvious jokes. There's absolutely no spontaneity, like when Harry chucks the salt over his shoulder or Lloyd puts laxative in Harry's tea. That's not the only issue here, as the bad guys are kind of the biggest joke in the movie and Lloyd finally crosses the line from cute to creepy. The bottom line, I loved seeing Carrey and Daniels together again and I enjoyed the parallels to the first film, but aside from a few misunderstandings and a line here or there, this film isn't even close to being the film fans waited twenty years to see.
Where do I even start with this one? It’s an insult to the classic comedy film Dumb and Dumber by the Farrelly Brothers. Ugh, why didn’t they learn from the other bad sequel that came out a decade before this one. Even where it’s not garbage, it’s just a shameless rehash of the original. It’s just a remake that added nothing new to the table and made everything worse. They shouldn’t made this movie, so tell me, why was this movie ever greenlit? There’s just unfunny poop and fart jokes prevalent everywhere in the plot. This is one of the most hackneyed, unpleasantly unfunny, and dumbest movies I had the misfortune to watch. I don’t know what else I can really say about this shameful trash. D&D1 was funny, this movie wasn’t. Don’t waste your time.
I mean it was bad, that wasn't really a surprise. I was surprised that it got a few laughs out of me and managed to not be completely offensive to all my senses.
