Four Brothers works as an urban thriller, if not precisely as a model of logic.

With equal measures of rock-the-house vigor and in-your-face attitude, Four Brothers proves usually potent and consistently enjoyable as an old school approach to what might best be described as the urban-Western genre of slam-bang, balls-out action-revenger.

Wahlberg, whose Bobby is the kind of guy who enters a room gun first, swinging a can of a gasoline, is the glue that holds everything together; he's perfectly cast and has never given a more persuasive performance.
  4. The casting is hit-and-miss. OutKast's Benjamin and "Troy's" Hedlund are weak, but Gibson is very appealing and the movie powers along on a strong lead performance by Wahlberg, who has never seemed more confident, commanding or scruffily charismatic.
  5. Four Brothers immediately joins the Good Idea, Bad Execution club. Hardly anyone seems to care about its believability - not director John Singleton, writers David Elliott and Paul Lovett or some lackadaisical actors.

The movie's not great, but Mom might like it.

Four Brothers? Ringling Brothers is more like it, because John Singleton's latest stinks like something the elephants left behind. It's not clear what the film is trying to do, but it seems safe to guess that it's doing it wrong.

Four Brothers is one of those rare movies that show you that when push comes to shove your brothers got your back.Four brothers focus on the Mercer brothers, Bobby, Angel, Jerry & Jack who come back to there home town of Detroit to bury there adopted mother and her killer. It's a totally engrossing and powerful action drama that will have you on the edge of your seat, and also at the same time making you feel the pain the mercer boys' feel. This movie from producer/director John Singleton goes to show you just because you don't look anything alike, doesn't mean your not brother's. I very highly recommend this movie. Expand

This is one of my all time favorite movies. Yeah it may not be the most real movie ever but neither is fast in the furious or transformers. The plot along with some great acting made this movie Expand

I really enjoyed this movie, it has a great, unpredictable story and fantastic acting. I like the relationship between the brothers, and I LOVE that the movie isn't all high Hollywood glam and special effects, it's refreshing. Expand

Four Brothers is a decent action movie but thats about it dont get me wrong i enjoyed the film buts its nothing like John Singleton's first film "Boyz n the Hood" it seems since then he cant really capture the magic that movie had. His latest movie "Abduction" starring Taylor Lautner was just unwatchable crap. Still though its the cast that makes this movie watchable Mark Wahlberg, Tyrese Gibson, André Benjamin, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Garrett Hedlund, Terrence Howard all really likable actors. The story is nothing new but its the solid performances by the actors that keep the movie going. The over the top action cut with witty humor was definitely a fresh feeling from all the other action movies in 2005 which the exception of 2 maybe 3 were terrible.Overall i give it a 6.5 id recommend a watch but its not a movie that i would call a must watch action movie. The absolute worst movie of all time. The only explanation is that the actors and directors were drunk and on drugs at the time they made this. Can we request for this film to be permanently erased from human history? Expand
