Declares in the first 5 minutes that it will be a dumb-ass horror flick waste of time. And it delivers. Aims low, very, very low, and hits the mark. Pointless but watchable.

I liked it a lot. The plot was easy to understand, and I was spooked throughout the whole film. I like to see more movies like this. Excellent stuff...

This movie wasn't too bad....Some scenes were stupid. The best scene in that movie was when Katie shows Epps what happened on that ship. Especially the song that they played during that scene made it incredible.

Not worth buying, but worth seeing at least once. The montage where the little girl shows us what happened is incredible.

I'd say that overall it was a pretty good film. I love how the entrence is all cheery when the title comes up on screen. It's funny cause you know it's supposed to be a horror film. The first 5 minutes really gets you into it and I really love the flashback part. It was very well put together in my oppinion, the way they jumped back and forth between the horrific and brutle murders of that night, making it very chaotic just like the night was. Although I have to say there were many flaws with the plot, it was still good. I also have to tell everyone to watch for Emily Browning (Katie) in upcomming movies. I believe she is going to make it big in the acting industry. She played her part perfectly. No, it was more than perfectly played. Keep an eye on her. Expand

I really liked this movie... i don't know why others gave it a bad rating. Reminded me of Resident Evil, except zombies can be killed and ghosts can't. i really liked the flashback close to the end, and the very beginning, very gruesome.

What a piece of crap! The worst movie of the year, without a doubt. Even though I knew it was gonna be a popcorn film, this didn't deliver in any sense whatsoever. It worse than Beck's last venture, Thirteen Ghosts, and that is quite an accomplishment. Gabriel Byrne, what are you doing?!?! Juilianna left ER to do this?!? I was at the premiere and felt so bad for everyone involved with this project. They shouldn't be allowed to make movies anymore. They are a disgrace to this industry. I hope this movie makes $0. Even that's too much for this crock of sh.t. Expand

Not horrible.....have seen much worse. The plot line is old, and used before but it actually is very well done for what it is. A matinee film, but not on the same lines as Mission to Mars which was HORRID!

Friggin awesome! not too scary but still very scary, i loved the whole water theme, not trapped on an island but on a ship that doesn't work that could sink and it is full of trapped souls and some that are evil and trying to boost the numbers for the boss!

Starts out great but slowly becomes predictable..the cast gave it everything it had, the story line just needed more detail. It's a decent watch.. but do not expect nightmares.

I don't know why there is so much negativity floating around about this film. I am not a fan of "Horror" movies at all, but I actually really enjoied this one. I thought it had a cool story line and pretty good special effects in the gory parts. I will certainly purchase this when it becomes available on DVD.

I was pleasantly surprised by this movie. I thought it was going to be like the idiotic "horror movies" of these past few years ("Fear Dot Com" for example). The montage toward the end was brilliant! And the ending had a nice little twist.

The visuals just fit in right with the movie. This is a mix between the visual of feardotcom and the story of Deep Rising. Some of the scenes I replayed on my dvd player because they were very discriptive in detail and an extra boost added from the techno/newage music made it enjoyable.

Every movie the Dark Castle company makes are just trash. This movie just proves my point. The first seen was horrible plus plain bad acting. Why did Julianna Margulies leave ER. She must be desperate to do crap like this.

I am only 14 and definatley not a fan of scary films. In most horror films i'm lucky if I watch 20 minutes of it. The rest is spent hidden behind a cushion. I must admit the first scene was disgusting good/funny. I can't believe I watched it but I did and I thought it was quite good!

Okay, 1st of all, let me comment on the acting: It was pretty good. Emily Browning did awesome and is now my new fav. actress! Desmond Harrington, don't get me wrong is a sufficiently good actor and a knock out, but his part just wasn't right for him. Finally, Epps, she was aweful! Julianna Margulies, stick to ER. Or, just don't try acting tougher than you are, for your sake! 2ndly, the writing was just a little rushed. Take for instance, the scene in Katie's room. Great, great, kind of spooky, but then they just rushed to quickly into Katie explaining what had happened. And whatever it was that had scared her, well, if it were my movie, being that she's on a ship that will eventually take her to Hell, I would have made images of how terrible it would be for her, if she continues to talk, appear on her walls. So, it just went a little quickly, is all. 3rdly, the movie itself was, all in all, a good film, great, even. But, I felt that the trailers made it look a lot more tragic, and that would have been a lot cooler. Fourthly, I had 3 favourite scenes. 1)The beginning, of course. 2)The scene where Katie is dancing by the pool. This scene was great! It showed the tragicness of what had happened. It was also kindof spooky, a little girl, full of nostalgia and sadness, dancing by the poolside. 3)The very end. That part was fabolous! This scene, I felt, explained it all. It had everything I was looking for in the film. It showed how terrible and bittersweet it was that, even though they are now free, they never wanted to die in the first place. It showed how horrible the curse really was. The part when Katie smile as she disappeared, showed the sweetness that they are finally free. Going from Epps feeling overwhelmed, the audience just about to loose all hope, and Katie thinking she will never get off, to a beautiful and amazing array of ascending souls! Finally, I rate this film an 8, because as great as it was, it could have been written slightly better abnd the whole film made a little more spooky and tragic. Expand

Horror films do not usually climax at the beggining but this one does and it is not a good thing. One can be tricked into a false sense of expectation after seeing the blood and gore at the beggining (which was quite good but doesn't redeem this film) but this will be the films undoing as it fails to produce any more scares. However the visuals are quite good when there are any. Also the story line is rather rubbish to politely put it and one couldn't really care for any of the characters. For those seeking a good scare I'd advice to avoid this and go watch "Dawn Of The Dead" or some of your old Elmstreet videos. Expand

I saw this movie yesterday with a bunch of friends. The plot was so interesting, that instead we chose to chat about Random stuff such as Halo. At some points acting like the "Unskippable" guys for The Escapist. The plot failed to captivate us, and all the coolest people die first. Fails to be scary, however the ending is quite amazing.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Good lord, what a brainless film. Don't waste your money renting this on DVD or even your bandwidth torrenting it from the internet. Just stay away. Believe you me, it's not worth the trouble of trying to make sense of the overall plot. To discover halfway throughout the movie that one of the main characters, Jack Ferriman, is actually a sub-servant of Satan himself is just too damn far-fetched, even for the most optimistic viewers. One of the ONLY redeeming factors about 'Ghost Ship' is a disemboweled scene early on in the picture. That's it! Expand
