Revelations completes Hellraiser’s transformation from an original and refreshingly adult concept into teens indiscriminately screwing and dying, hollowing out the soul of the franchise while functioning as a loose remake of the original.
Doug Bradley is gone. This is a sad day (I mean this movie came out almost a decade ago, but still, I saw it yesterday, so it was a sad day for me). But Doug Bradley is replaced by the new Pinhead, Stephan Smith Collins, who, I’m going to be frank, is absolutely awful. He sounds like he’s trying to do a terrible Doug Bradley impersonation when HE ISN’T EVEN ENGLISH. Collins was born in Chicago. But there are even more flaws aside from that. The cinematography is reminiscent of a bad sitcom. Most of the acting (most, I actually like Jay Gillespie and Nick Everman) is bad. The writing is good in places, but in others it’s horrible. It also has some of the worst pacing I’ve seen in a movie recently. However, despite being called the worst Hellraiser movie, I’ve seen worse in this series. The concept is pretty good, and there are some really creative ideas that if given to the right people *cough* Clive Barker *cough* Scott Derrickson *cough* Doug Bradley *cough* could have been really entertaining to watch. Keywords being ‘could have been’.
This movie has terrible shots, poor acting, mediocre characters and story, and has an AWFUL Pinhead.
Hellraiser: Revelations is one of the worst films ever, in my opinion.
The only reason I am giving it a 0.5/10 instead of a 0/10 is because, I like the practical effects. They look cool.
But this film deserves to die
I don't even consider this movie part of the franchise. It was only made, rather quickly mind you, so Dimension Films didn't lose the film rights to the franchise. It's the equivalent of fan-made garbage.
