A rueful, reflective companion piece to "Born to Lose."
The result, while slight, is a poignant portrait of one of New York's all-star outlaws.
Essentially an hour-long monologue, but this talking head is so engaging that you can't blame director Lech Kowalski's camera for not wanting to stray from the late Dee Dee Ramone's party-ravaged face.
On a dark set, between strums and archival clips, this master raconteur exudes his own brand of obnoxious charm, the kind that can only be possessed, never imitated.
Spare, rough around the edges and unsentimentally melancholy.
The film ultimately fails to satisfy because of the limitations of both the format and subject.
