Grandious epic on leadership and humanity. Very inspiring, uplifting, dramatic...just incredible. Old champ Clint Eastwood is just getting better and better.

As others have said -- well done and entertaining. A pleasant surprise, and meaty too.

This movie is just boring for people that didn't get its message. It shows how sports and leadership can reunite people historically separated; we can see that in the final scenes, when South Africa wins the match and everyone forgot about the other person's color and just accepted, even if it was just for that moment. And also, the performances by Freeman and Damon and Eastwood's direction were absolutely outstanding. Expand

Superb acting, deeply touching story, well-told. Loved the raw feel of the film, almost like and Indy from Sundance.

Saw this film last night and reveled in its simplicity but also powerful message. Morgan Freeman should be nominated for Best Actor Oscar. I enjoyed the subplot of black/white security guards learning how to get along.

Great movie, maybe not everything is true, but its captivating, touching, and really interesting. Acting is almost perfect and directing is really good. It kept me without any distraction, I couldn't think of anything different from the film.

Best movie of the holiday season ... you might actually learn something, too. Morgan Freeman's understated portrayal of Mandela is sensational. We see the man, his flaws and his pain.

Once again, Clint Eastwood means to impart some wisdom to his audience, this with a story where everything went right for once! Nelson Mandela demonstrated what Jesus meant when he said by faith you will move moiuntains. Mandela (Freeman) does move mountains and even molehills of predudice through his backing of the country's all-white soccer team and his belief in putting the past where it belongs - (behind us). This film is a meditation on what it means to be human. Several lumps in your throut, multiple tears in your eye, numerous chuckles, one big smile on your face at the end. Best film of 2009. Expand

One of the best Sport movies of this decade. It also provides a rare glimpse into how rugby was used to unite a nation. Definitely worth a watch.

Morgan Freeman and Matt Damon both give Oscar worthy performances in this masterpiece of a film. Clint Eastwood was able to bring light to subjects that tend to be ignored and was able to get two leading men to play roles many have not seen since Ghandi.

The film is, in my opinion, an accurate depiction of the world cup and took me back to the euphoria and celebrations. One scene I really liked was the little street child listening in on the match with the cops. It got so many things right and painted everyone in a positive light - a true gem and uplifting experience. Well done, Mr. Eastwood

Invictus has to be the best sports movie of the year, it's hard not to like the film with its great actors and inspiring story. I saw it on a boring Monday afternoon with a friend who was playing doodle jump on his Ipod Touch (fun game I recommend it) most of the time but he still liked the parts of the movie that he actually watched. I wasn't expecting the rating I gave it especially because from the critics only one gave it 100. When the movie was over I wasn't sure whether to give this movie a 9 or 10. It would either be close to a 10 but not quite there or a 10 that just made it. So I chose 10 just because of thinking about the errors of the movie. Not many but the reason why it was so close was because most aspects of the film were good not great. For example the big stars in this movie were Morgan Freeman and Matt Damon. The both acted good not great because it wasn't that hard of a role to act in. Sure Morgan Freeman had to change his voice and I give him credit for that but what was so hard about Matt's character. All he had to do was gain muscles that he already has. After thinking about this film I don't think their were any errors really just most of the aspects of the movie were just good. The are many things I admire about this movie but one of them truly stands out. That is that there is not a lot to hate about this movie. I mean I am still trying to think of something stupid about this film. There is nothing and I am not sure why people did not like this movie. Overall great film take my word for it see this movie it is freakin awesome. Expand

I agree with Tyler R. and Christopher K. Though I have no interest at all in sports, I loved this movie. It is touching and fascinating in many ways. A tad too long, yes, but it moved me. And it demonstrates how a mature and wise leader will think and behave.

This is a great movie! Anyone and I mean ANYONE who thinks that is not a powerful story about overcoming racial barriers are completely close minded. I am a white male in my middle age and this is the kind of thing we should be teaching our children! Learn from it, grow from it and for god sakes change your pov!

First off, this is a 9.75 out of 10. Near perfection. Story is remarkable. A great true story. Acting is Really good. Morgan Freeman is always good, and Matt Damon gives one of his best performances. I think they both got screwed. Seriously, Morgan had some competition, but honestly Matt had no competition. Score is also pretty good. Overall, this is a remarkable true story, and one of the best sports movie. Everyone should go, and watch this movie. Expand

The wonder of Invictus is that it actually went down this way.
  2. A temperate, evenhanded perhaps overly timid film about an intemperate time in South Africa.

Damon, beefed up for the occasion, makes Pienaar a stalwart yet courtly figure. Freeman infuses Mandela's speeches with the same gentleness and gravity he's brought to his numerous God roles and the Visa Olympics commercials. But the real deity here is Eastwood, still chugging away handsomely in his 80th year.
