  1. A comic actor of genius who raises silliness to an art form, the wonderfully expressive Atkinson makes excellent use of those devastating looks in the spy spoof Johnny English, where he turns up as a James Bond type more likely to kill adversaries by accident than on purpose.
  2. Most Bond parodies tend to flatten because they fail to evoke the production design overkill and slick cinematic style of its target. Johnny English is no different. Director Peter Howitt delivers action like a journeyman, but Atkinson saves him time and again.

All in all, Johnny English isn’t a bad effort. Rowan Atkinson is much more of a comedian than Mike Myers is, but unfortunately Myers had the spy spoof down pat.
  4. An old-fashioned comedy. And in this case, "old-fashioned" means tired, out of date and so abominably blah that you'll fall asleep in your popcorn.
  5. By playing the boob so brilliantly, Atkinson allows us the catharsis of recognizing our own incompetencies and lack of poise.

This is strictly dull chuckles from dull wits, and while there are a few genuine laughs to be found amidst the dross, they’re as rare as Francophiles in Crawford, Texas.

The way the movie is crafted, is by MR. Bean letting things happen, the dumb way though. Witch makes it funny and gives the movie its own perspective. Expand

Personally one of the most hilarious movies I've ever seen. Watched it countless times and the jokes never fail to make me laugh. A MUST SEE for all Rowan Atkinson and British Comedy fans. Expand

Better than I thought it was going to be, it's funny and manages to be a great parody of spy movies, granted you can see some bigger Johnny English's screw ups coming they still turn out funny do to good acting, not sure I would show this to younger audiences, but maybe kids about 13 and up, still if you like goofy spy parody movies then this is for you. Although it is almost unforgivably goofy, there are still enough laughs within "Johnny English" to garner a couple more viewings.

Some comedies are very underrated due to the fact they are stupid and nonsensical. Johnny English is a solid comedy movie thanks to Rowan Atkinson's performance, but the movie itself is too predictable and too dumb that doesn't provide enough laughs to convince the audience. Expand

Perfect for young children, but just plain stupid for anyone older.
