  1. Chesney makes an art form out of strolling down the catwalk while singing. He turns each song into a blissed-out journey homeward.
  2. The guy really goes all out in these performances.

Unapologetically dopey and undeniably ingratiating, the supersized Kenny Chesney: Summer in 3D makes a surprisingly convincing argument for big, dumb likability.

His fans will undoubtedly be satisfied: the film packs 23 songs into less than 100 minutes and spotlights the full Chesney, with his tight jeans, faded tank top, worn cowboy hat.

Sound is crystal-clear, and unobtrusive stereoscopic footage looks great throughout the 99-minute feature, though some weird compositional snafus scuttle the desired concert experience, and the set's lack of variety makes it a fans-only proposition.

The faithful will devour it, but everyone else will wonder why it takes a dozen band members (including a horn section), copious shots of Kenny's bulging biceps, and not one, not two, but 3-Ds to give shape to these tunes.

In occasional vignettes voiced over home movies and old photos, Chesney talks with humble conviction of reaching people in the cheap seats.
  8. The 3-D format is mostly wasted, and the production so slick we never truly feel like part of that screaming audience. For fans only.
