Land of Bad is an atypical war film because of the contrasts that reflect the different style of modern warfare.
Headlined by a serviceable Liam Hemsworth and a fantastic Russell Crowe in all his hammy scene-stealing glory, it’s the bro-iest bro-fest that ever bro’d—and I say that with far more affection than condescension.

A decent military-ops action film. One of those films that is enjoyable in the movement but also forgettable at the same time. If you like these type of films it likely worth a watch. If not, then you are not missing much.

Gostei muito dessa patuscada, especialmente como trabalha o suspense, e olha que o lugar é bem aberto, mas mantem o clima claustrofóbico, por mais que tudo seja clichê aqui: um verdadeiro Rambo, o que foi bem forçado para um combatente inexperiente. Ao menos tá bem atuado e dirigido. O humor aqui funciona como contraponto a uma hierarquia militar acostumada com status: o desleixo é parte da humanidade que brota em ambientes hostis. Mas confesso que preferia um fim mais trágico, faltou coragem.

The movie had textbook ensemble of badass characters with a questionable plot surrounding them. Hovering between realism and non-realism. It was a low-budget action film and I don't say that with negative connotations, it added to the charm of the film. Hemsworth had trouble selling the character, but to be fair to the actor; the character was a tough sell.. A freshie soldier who hasn't had real battlefield experience is thrusted into a difficult scenario and he is expected to seem incompetent while also being competent enough be the hero of the story. It's a tough sell.
All in all, it's not the worst thing you can watch on a slow Saturday night. Has potential to be a funny movie you can watch at home with some friends and jab at the tropes. The explosions were mesmerizingly impressive. The pacing keeps you engaged throughout with little to no "smoke breaks".

Liam Hemsworth is one of a quartet of soldiers sent into enemy territory to "extract" an asset (his real-life brother Luke is also on the team). Russell Crowe plays the crusty drone pilot back in Vegas. In many ways this looks like a typical military adventure with the expected gunfire and setbacks. What makes this one more interesting is the extensive use of tech to track and dispatch the enemy. The action starts slowly, but by the final scenes, there's some genuine tension. Hensworth handles his part with solid action chops, while Crowe relishes being bold and blustery. Even though the plot is predictable, the display of modern warfare adds a more interesting element. BTW, there's a quick basketball reference that mentions VCU!
