  1. There's nothing particularly revolutionary about writer-director Robert Edwards' grimly satiric political fable.
  2. Dark, grim, and cliched Orwellian satire.
  3. 38
Political satire is so rare that it's a shame to watch the reliable Ralph Fiennes and Donald Sutherland lend their talents to one that is blind to its own incompetence.

This movie has been unfairly downgraded. I can't quite give it a 10 but it's a solid 9: a nasty dystopian fantasy somewhat like Gilliam's Brazil but much more willing to twist the knife. Sutherland is perfect in his role and Fiennes isn't far behind. I strongly disagree with the critics on this one. Expand
