    Misses opportunities to add much substance to the debate over immigration reform. Instead, it strings together the views of a few law enforcement officials, legal experts, agriculture industry representatives, politicians, one "coyote," or human smuggler, and others hailing from the south Texas town of Laredo.

    A rich opportunity is squandered with Laredoans Speak, a documentary of laudable aspirations suffering from its pronounced sympathies.

    The movie's argument only occasionally transcends its oozy nonspecificity and feel-good bleeding-heart vibe.

    Some six or seven men (women conspicuously absent), including a mayor, an immigration lawyer, a congressman and a "coyote," offer views on immigration. Unfortunately, they all say the same thing -- and it's nothing new, affecting or articulate.

    Laredoans Speak is bad in a special kind of way that inspires the obviously piteous description of "well-intentioned."
