Lola is, in other words, a believable heroine for our times.

This is a movie that manages to be light and funny and still transcend age, background and culture to treat with compassion our ability to behave in our own worst interests and still nurture hope for the future.

Like the character at its center, Wein's film suffers from a certain sense of inertia, which is where Gerwig comes in.

Gerwig remains one of the most captivating new stars to hit the big screen, but she's still looking for a movie that deserves her.

  1. Lola Versus, great movie, but have some little problems. The trama is great, but have a bad development, and in some parts the movie is boring. The performances are cool, but not are the better point of this movie. Lola Versus is good. Expand
  2. Definitely plays to the female demo, but not a bad movie for a guy to earn points from watching it with that special someone. Great opening, but other than the soundtrack, nothing stood out. Standard good performance from Greta Gerwig and some nice supporting roles, but a bland though sometimes entertaining indie. Expand
  3. Not a very good movie. It doesn't really go any where, and when it ends you fell like you wasted an hour and a half of your life. Pretty slow and boring, not very funny or romantic it's really just a bland movie. There were a few laughs but very far apart. There wasn't any bad acting but nothing special. I got the feeling like they were trying to emulate HBO's Girls in the tone and the dialogue, but it just comes off as unfunny. Don't bother with this movie. 3/10 Expand
