As the moving concluding scenes cement, Mariachi Gringo is right on pitch — and, happily, not simply as you’d expect.

A road trip movie filled with simple pleasures. Ashmore does a solid job as a mariachi musician without a single grenade-launcher in his guitar case

Refreshingly, Mariachi Gringo looks beyond the usual cartel/corruption/bloodbath take on modern Mexico, but the result is altogether stronger on sincerity than emotional engagement.

Amid this malarkey Gustafson is smart enough to let the camera linger on musical performances that reveal mariachi to be dynamic and complex as opera.

A 30 year old man runs to Mexico to escape his dead end life in Kansas, and find a future in Mexico. I thought the idea of the movie was great, cause it encourages people to use their wings to fly.The movie tells you to peruse you`re goals, don`t let anybody hold you back. The problem is "Mariachi Gringo" is a slow moving movie, and I wish his dreams lead him to better adventures.
