Both Jonathan Demme and Michelle Pfeiffer give strong early-career performances as director and lead amidst this campy, fun take on hundreds of contemporary Italian mafia films.

Married to the Mob is a campy, outrageously fun tale that is a mix between "Midnight Run" and "Goodfellas" on how it portrays the Mafia. Instead of focusing on shootout after shootout, the movie resorts more to story and character development, which is a rarity in this genre.

Married to the mob is a very amusing comedy-drama. The movie has elements of Midnight Run and Goodfellas mixed together. The characters are well developed in the movie which is different because often they aren't. The movie has less action than other crime dramas because the movie is a spoof of the mafia crime genre.

Married to the mob is a great comedy-drama. The cast is terrific and the story is atypical from mob
spoofs. The movie will surprise with its approach to the comedy you usually see in familiar comedies.

  1. Director Jonathan Demme's farcical and broad 1988 comedy, written by Barry Strugatz and Mark R. Burns, doesn't really work, but there are plenty of enjoyable compensations.
  2. Married to the Mob isn't for all tastes. But for cinematic thrills and spills, it's quite a ride.

Jonathan Demme's follow-up to "Swimming To Cambodia" is a typically entertaining diversion.
