Without giving any spoilers away, the rest of the Once & Always is both chock full of Easter eggs and callbacks for longtime fans and pays haphazard regard to basic storytelling elements like continuity and history.
As I dont like Netflix at all they did a good job. Movie mood and plot stick to originals and robot Rita is great vilain. Its also good they made it with some original actors. It was crazy 90s back then and most of people dont accept this style nowadays and this movie have this style as original series. As more retro man I enjoyed it.
This may not be the epic "Power Rangers" reunion some fans may have hoped for, but Mighty Morphin Power Rangers: Once & Always is very much the love letter to the last 30 years of this franchise, where it all began, and where it is going.
While Mighty Morphin Power Rangers: Once and Always has a deeply emotional story at its center and plenty of fun nostalgic moments to enjoy during its one-hour runtime, it’s hard to shake the feeling that this special needed better effects and dialogue to make it truly Morphenomenal.
Power Rangers: Once & Always doesn’t make the same mistake as the 2017 feature film Power Rangers, which took itself way too seriously when it didn’t need to. At the same time, the special is too aware that it should be a little serious, which prevents viewers from having fun with the truly campy moments that, although rare, fire up the screen when they pop.
Nostalgia done right! Unlike other revivals that change everything, this remains faithful to the original show, keeping all the cheesy fun and even bringing back the original actors.
It was like back being in 1993! AND. I. LOVED. IT.
Story was superb, bursting with emotion and tension. The action was amazing, much better than the CGI heavy stuff you see in Marvel movies these days.
The 90s cheesy Power Rangers vibe was refreshing and it made a welcome change from other super hero flicks.
Granted, the Megazord CGI was dodgy, and some of the second gen characters need more screen time. But everything else was SO SO good, that I can let that pass.
This put a massive grin on my inner 90s kid.
Hungry for more!
Tirando a história batida, se você for nostálgico o suficiente certamente irá gostar disso aqui.
This shows that Power Rangers really was a product of its time. The corny acting and bad animation just does not work in 2023. The lack of original cast should also have served as a sign that the show wasn't worth doing. It's basically a 20 minute episode stretched to 55 minutes.
Disappointed they didn't bring in some of the others or at least just show them fighting. What really kept this from being ultimately good though is the CGI slug fest at the end. Why would they spend the money on that garbage instead of doing in practically as they had before? So infuriating. Overall though the movie is fine, definitely something you're going to want to watch if you were a fan of the originals.
As a longtime fan, I couldn't help but cringe as I suffered through this 50 minutes of trash. To start off with the obvious, This is supposed to be a big reunion/anniversary special and the cast here is extremely limited. They could and should have done better. The second most obvious thing is that while the cast does try, The script they're given honestly makes you question what passes for quality at Netflix. It's so cringe-worthy and at times when it was supposed to be taken seriously, I couldn't help but burst out laughing. And on top of all that, It ends with one of the cheapest CG zord battles you'll ever see. This is the ultimate slap in the face to every fan of the series. There was zero effort here.
