I thought the fiilm was wonderful! The characters were well developed. The story line was easy to follow I love the setting in which the film was developed. Enjoyed the soft muted colors that were used throughout the film since I do not speak French. I found the sex scenes to be hot and revolting at the same time because are sisters. Here's a film with girl-on-girl action that inspires the viewer to look away. "Murderous Maids" fascinates because it challenges those with mindframes that register violence as being more shocking than sex. Uh-uh. Not here. "Maids in Love" might be a more adequate title since it's the sisters' breaking of a taboo that eventually sends Christine over the edge. The love scenes are very disturbing because Sylvie Testud(Christine) and Julie Marie-Parmenter(Eva) do generate heat. When we get to the killing of their employers, it's debatable if class warfare has anything to do with the gruesome murder. "Murderous Maids" is not a simple movie about the rich versus the poor. This movie was disturbing. It never seemed to really develop the history of why things are. The relationship between the sisters loses it's erotic edge as the Christine falls deeper into her psychosis.

  1. Denis and Testud, in a wondrous collaboration of a gifted director and equally gifted actress, succeed in making Christine a tragic figure.
  2. The old saying, "It's hard to find good help nowadays" takes on a new meaning in Murderous Maids.

Doesn't shy away from the social or psychological explanations of the Le Mans murders, but never comes down on one side or another.
