  • Starring: Ashton Kutcher, Natalie Portman
  • Summary: In this comedy, Emma and Adam are life-long friends who almost ruin everything by having sex one morning. In order to protect their friendship, they make a pact to keep their relationship strictly "no strings attached." "No strings" means no jealousy, no expectations, no fighting, no flowers, no baby voices. It means they can do whatever they want, whenever they want, in whatever public place they want, as long as they don't fall in love. The question becomes- who's going to fall first? And can their friendship survive? (Paramount Pictures)

Ivan Reitman directed, with great verve and unflagging finesse, from a terrifically funny script by Elizabeth Meriwether.

As it is, No Strings Attached is content to be sweet rather than edgy, to make you go "awww" instead of "hmmm."

It leads exactly where we think it will on a sometimes funny, ultimately predictable, journey.

No Strings Attached is so palpably calculated that you know if the camera had pulled back a foot from the bed in which Portman and Kutcher were pretending to have sex, you'd have seen their agents standing by beaming: proud parents, proud pimps.

  1. How the sack does this movie get a 50 around here. This movie was so fantastic. I'm not even sure how some of you call yourselves decent critics. Does every movie have to be groundbreaking to be rewarded? I don't know. I had a really good time watching this. All I had to do was sit back, relax, and enjoy what was in front of me. No need to analyze the entire thing, if I do that, nothing will be peaceful and enjoyable. Expand
  2. Although predictable, the movie delivered a whole lot more than expected. The rawness in this film makes it more than watchable. It 90%-100% depicted how real-life people talk. Thank god it was rated R, because PG-13 would have made this a below average to bad film. Overall i would watch it again for Portman who played her character very well and for Kutcher who like always delivers his charm in a way no other can. Expand
  3. Nothing bad, but nothing new -- or even a bit original -- is offered in No Strings Attached's heavily cliched script and gag humor. It's not the worst rom-com in recent years, but it's far from being the best. Expand
  4. "No Strings Attached" is a romantic+sex+humor movie with the formula everybody recognizes. I wonder if Natalie Portman recieved a metal shock for earning a Oscar, because this movie isn't even close for a Oscar won person to perform. Expand
