  1. Often is on the verge of spilling over into melodrama, but that doesn't bother me because life is the same way.

Laura Morante gives a fiery, layered performance as the frustrated matriarch struggling to keep her clan together.
  3. Very well acted and directed, if overlong.

This sentimental movie is the simulacrum of an existential family drama. But the 48-year-old Morante is the real thing.

Long-winded and often over-the-top Italian soap opera about a neurotic, middle-class Roman family.
  6. If the shrill Italian melodrama Remember Me, My Love were a television soap opera, it would be called The Not-So-Young and the Restless.
  7. A decorative Italian soap opera with an asterisk for earnest aspirations. Its beautiful people say painful things to each other in gorgeous clothes, and though the film expects us to take their problems seriously, it's awfully hard to do so.
