A summer delight that also provides a quick cultural education.
It's sort of like getting off the plane in a strange place without a guide. We can figure it out, but it takes some work, and the music is more of a distraction than an aid.
Completely successful or not, films like Saudade do Futuro are needed. And we need people like the Nordestinos.
Infectious city symphony.
The film doesn't provide any narration or go out of its way to identify the participants, so it's left to the viewer to make connections and draw their own conclusions.
Despite its sociological tidbits and flashes of musical vitality, Saudade do Futuro never goes anywhere.
