Scoop is presented as a thriller, which works. Although we know the outcome, Martin successfully immerses us in the narrative in a way where it feels precarious.
The frustration of Scoop is also its point: It vividly conjures the adrenaline and awe of one hour of dynamite television, but can bring us no closer to complete truth, or complete justice.

I think it's just an ok watch, nothing mind-blowing, it's interesting to get a peek behind the scenes of that infamous Prince Andrew interview.

Between the lines, Scoop conveys, not only what Andrew most likely did, but what led him to assume that he’d get away with it.
A tense atmosphere and great acting make up for some lackluster characterization choices.
What Scoop offers is the modest pleasure — to which any journalist is susceptible — of rooting for a reporting team to get a story.
Director Philip Martin’s film is not poorly made per se, but its efforts to make the behind-the-scenes scramble to get the Duke of York on TV exciting are for naught.
The drama is smothered by its own overwhelming sense of importance.
Tudo bem a protagonista pisar em ovos para conseguir uma entrevista exclusiva com o duque amigo de um agressor sexual, mas a direção estar com medo de narrar a história parece meio estranho. Assim, o resultado é um filme com rédeas a todo o tempo, e nós somos os espectadores empolgados, pois a história é boa. Ao menos as atuações estão muito boas, mas o resultado é isso: um clímax frio demais para seu potencial.
