  • Summary: Kirk, an average Joe, can’t believe his luck. Though he’s stuck in a seemingly dead-end job as an airport security agent, against all odds, Molly, a successful and outrageously gorgeous babe, falls for him. Kirk is stunned. So are his friends, his family and even his ex-girlfriend. Now he has to figure out how to make the relationship work, even though he’d be the first to admit she’s totally out of his league. The movie is not a comedy classic. But in a genre where so many movies struggle to lift themselves from zero to one, it's about, oh, a six point five.

If all you want from a movie are generous doses of laughs and some tender moments, She's Out Of My League should be right up your alley.
  3. What he (Jay Baruchel) brings to She's Out of My League, in addition to the geek and the gawk, is a dash of the debonair, which might seem impossible and yet he does.
  4. If you're hungry to see a romantic comedy about a genetically and culturally imbalanced geek-meets-babe relationship that makes the one in Knocked Up look like the quintessence of plausible human mating, then by all means subject yourself to the one-joke sub–Judd Apatow snark-athon that is She's Out of My League.

Plausibility aside, the key to making the scenario work is comedy. Much can be forgiven if it delivers enough laughs. That's the main problem here. It's short on clever humor and big on convention and formula.

If you’re going to make a romantic comedy called She’s Out of My League about a schlubby nice guy and a pneumatic blonde, the last thing you want is for the audience to be left thinking: “He’s right. She’s way out of his league.”
  7. Would like to think of itself as an extension of its lead character -- gangly, a bit uncouth, but ultimately sweet. Unfortunately, it's more like the best friend in a movie like this -- irritating, unfunny and something that hangs around longer than it should.

I loved this movie. It was so funny and incredibly sweet. One of the best romantic comedies I have ever seen. The leads played by Jay Baruchel and Alice Eve had amazing chemistry Eve's sweetness and hotness were an unbelievably heady mix. The man-pals were hilarious, especially Miller's character, Stainer. The song, She's So High Above Me, that played in the background during a 'date' montage was the perfect choice. Will watch this movie again and again. Expand

Very good, sweet, and funny movie. The characters were all great and quirky, and were really funny when put together. Perhaps many of the elements have been used before in other movies but everything fit together great, this movie was just fun. It is an easy movie to relate to in one way or another which is what makes it so funny at times, I had a smile on my face through most of the movie and busted out laughing at several parts. If you want to see a movie that leaves you with a smile on your face because you were pleasantly surprised, watch it! Expand

A very worn-out genre but She's Out of My League gets it just about right. Jay Baruchel is very believable in his 'geeky' role but still very amicable. Alice Eve gets her character just about right too. Not annoying but still obviously a little out of the protagonist's reach in normal life. This film was surprisingly enjoyable and makes me regret not watching it in the cinema. I haven't seen any other Jim Field Smith works but would like to check some out. Seems like he has a talent for comedies. Expand

She 's Out of My League is a romance-comedy but with dick jokes. In the lead role, it's Jay Baruchel who you might know from Knocked Up and this year's How to Train Your Dragon. Baruchel finally gets a lead role that he deserves, problem? Yes, he's exactly how his on-screen friends describe him, a guy that isn't attractive but more cute that girls want to take him out but never get down and dirty. In some ways, it works for him but sometimes it's also his disadvantage. Alice Eve plays the beautiful lead lady Molly that decides to date Baruchel's Kirk because she's fed up of the six pack abs, douche bag ego. Eve is good but you don't get to know her character as well as you want to. I particularly liked Nate Torrence, who is hilarious and reminiscent of 30 Rock's Kenneth and The Hangover's Alan without the beard. Overall, the film works to a certain extent. Expand

Just saw this film and i can't that it is so bad. It is an usual american comedy with happy ending and so and so which such films are too boring. This one had some funny moments and some characters were really well done and impressed me. I laughed but it's a film for an afternoon if you don't have anything else to do. Expand

After the first five seconds, I knew this one would suck big time. And it did. The whole idea of the nerdy guy with girl troubles should be expelled from Hollywood. It is not funny. Why do these movies get made ? Absolutely horrible. The voice of the main male character alone makes you run for the exit. Expand
