The film is at its best when focusing on the painful yet banal mechanics of being a very sick body. The hospital material is exception, whereas the family dynamics are sadly rather rote. The hospital material is exception, whereas the family dynamics are sadly rather rote. Also, I have to take issue with Strand's synopsis. There is really nothing in the film that verifies their claim that Thomas cannot accept Luc's homosexuality. In fact (MILD SPOLIER) he claims that it was Luc who pulled away from him. Just because there is unresolved conflict between two brothers of different sexual orientation does not mean that gayness was the point of contention. At least, that's not the film *I* saw. Expand
