I loved this movie! It has beautiful animation, great music (I like Bryan Adams:)), and a simple, but great story line. What I really liked is that the horses didn't talk, but showed emotion through body language, facial expressions, a narration for Spirits thoughts by Matt Damon (Which I didn't think was necessary but added to the film nonetheless) and horses noises that took about a year to record to get all the noises and I have to the say the placement of the noises is perfect. It is a great movie and I will see it again at the theaters and I advise you see it at least once. Expand

It was a good movie, i'll try not to use bad language but yea I think they should have kept a lot of music out of it...because most of it they didn't need, i like horses, Spirit Rocks, but I found out what his dad was and his mom was like a yellowish, and whitish hair..he would have to be Gray with a whitish hair.....so yea bad science!

Spirit is a fantastic movie! I think it really tells the story of the American West, from the heart of the horse, not the cowboy. I have ridden a mustang before, and he had as much passion as I saw out of Spirit in the movie. The music is wonderful! Bryan Adams did a great job on every song he was in, and the music anywhere in the movie is perfect. Spirit reminds me of my horse Roscoe, he has the same attitudes as Spirit. Great movie! Deserves a 20!!!! Expand

Awesome animation, coupled with a touching story.. and to think it was conveyed with so less a narration, is amazing. One of Bryan Adams' best works in music. See it for what it is, and anyone will love it.. and stop comparing it with "Lion King" and (worse) "Shrek" please!

I loved this movie and am going to buy it as soon as it comes out! The only thing that I didn't like (and this did not bother me alot) is how many times the Cavalry tried to capture him. I mean, all that running around for a horse!?!? I still love this movie, though.

I found myself checking my watch after the first 15 minutes of Spirit. While it was refreshing to see non-speaking animated characters for a change, my kids and I were bored stiff. And after more than an hour of this nauseating slew of horses, soldiers, indians, and Brian Adams music, we practically ran out of the theatre!

I would have given it a 10 but the overkill of Brian Adams songs ruined it. This is a wonderful heartwarming film. Beautiful to look and touching, especially when you realize that there is no dialogue between the animals and that all emotion and sentiment is translated through the mood, expression, and score of the film (which by the way is amazingly rich and fitting of the times the film takes place). A must see for families, fans of animations, and anyone with a heart. Expand

Not what I would concider reasonable viewing. The songs are terrible, the plot seems to keep repeating itself and it is apparent Dreamworks is trying too hard to be the next Disney. They are no where close to Disney's prestige, but it's a good effort. The animation is gorgeous, if that counts for anything.

The horses don't talk. Thank god! But somebody at Dreamworks thought the little kiddies needed a voice-over, even though Spirit's facial gestures are broad enough for a toddler to gauge. In most cases, a narrator is unnecessary, especially if it's an animated horse. And yet, the film works, despite the unintentional laughs from evoking "The Wonder Years", and the truly hideous soundtrack by Hans Zimmer, and the songs of Bryan Adams. "Spirit: Stallion of the Cimarron" is watchable because everybody loves horses. Expand

I thought that this movie was beautifully done. I liked the simple message it gave and it gave me a really uplifting feeling. The only problem that I *very* quickly tired of, were the repetitive Bryan Adams songs that came along every 5 minutes like clockwork.

The impression of this movie on my heart whenever i watch it is beyond explanations. The music i believe is just the match for such a brilliant piece of work or should i say the music is it's soul.A true apotheosis of what SPIRIT is.

Expand

Loved the music and the traditional animation, although the narration sounded passive and bored at times. It also had a great environmental message. Only cynical anti-environmentalists will hate this film.

  1. Rather exciting, rendered in a bright sunset palette and a mixture of expressive, boldly drawn traditional animation and fluid computer-generated imagery.
  2. It's an extraordinary feat of animation, possibly the most lovingly conceived, uncompromisingly executed and totally successful animated film since "The Lion King."

As it stands, "Spirit" provides neither the profound human touch of the great Disney animation of the past, nor the dazzling, high-tech fun of present-day digital cartooning.
