  1. The plot may be forgettable, but the execution is frantic and funny. The Spy Next Door is a movie that will bring smiles to kids - and their grandparents.

There's nothing wrong with Chan's making a silly comedy for kids. But he's got more in him than grinning, nodding and falling down a lot. All he needs is a filmmaker who's ready to let him to make that leap.
  3. 40
Chan struggles gamely to charm, but the picture's cartoonish jokes and misfired gags are likely to elicit more eye rolls than laughs.

The film’s so formulaic your 6-year-old will be ticking off the plot points as they lope by.
  5. In middle age Jackie Chan can't keep coasting on boyish charm, as evidenced by this dreadful family comedy that does him no favors with its opening title sequence.
  6. 25
Limp and lifeless, this Next Door neighbor should be evicted to DVD.
  7. 0
Nobody of Chan's legendary stature should ever have to play second banana to George Lopez, and certainly not in a film that was already made five years ago with Vin Diesel (see: The Pacifier).

This movie had a lot of potential. And it lived up to it. Great job!

Really silly & mindless plot...but surprisingly entertaining. It's like reading a funny comic book. Perfect popcorn movie for whole family.

But I find that adding Jackie Chan to a film (no matter of it's quality) makes it better. He seems to bring a certain amount of fun to what would otherwise be a very bad (rather boring) film. It's the worst film I've seen with Jackie Chan in it though. I should hate it but I can't! Expand

The bad guy is hard to understand his motive confusing and so are the good guy. The plot *cough*almost*cough* twist are poorly set up and amount to very little. But why don't they spend that time praising the movie's good points? BECAUSE THERE AREN'T ANY!!! So what's wrong with this movie? Well Billy Ray Cyrus is in it.......I could end the review just with that. There are way more problems than that though. Bland and obvious story, jokes that could be seen from miles away and appealing to it's key demographic so desperately it makes the Oogieloves look subtle. If you value your brain cells, make like a spy and stealthily, quickly get the hell away from this movie! Expand

I wonder if he just made this for a paycheck or to appeal to children but I'm pretty sure it's the former. After all he did say he needed money to make Armour of God 3 and he's even admitted to hating most of his Hollywood movies. So go figure. No wonder this was so terrible. Miley Cyrus' dad was in this, what more needs to be said? Expand
