Awesome movie, although it does make you wonder about the glitter of hollywood-ism psychosomatically influencing people!

Contrary to the apearent dislike of the other critiques for this film, i find it to be incredible. It was a great story played out by a great cast. You have the incomparable Gabriel Byrne, who can make the most horrible movie into a seemingly brilliant work of art, and Patricia Arquette, who is an immensely talented actress. Bad reviews or not, there are a few of us out there who will forever appreciate and enjoy this movie. Expand

A miserable, miserable, MISERABLE "what the hell?" kind of movie. A kind of movie not even the director can love.

Awesome idea...religion horror is the best kind. I think it was probably stretched timewise - as I remember there was some dead time, but overall I liked it and would watch it again.

I thought it was great. it is not a typical horror movie and i think it was really thought through. it takes guts for the directors to touch such a touchy subject. its definetly one of my favourites if not my favorite and even though it got awful reviews its nice to know that some of us out there really enjoyed it and appreciate a good movie. well done!

The Lord works in mysterious ways, and evidently so does this movie. Apparently all the viewers with spontaneously bleeding crucifixtion wounds just loved it. I can accept that some people are chosen and possessed by forces which alienate and leave lifelong scars. I can still remember when people danced to disco.

I thought it was an awesome movie and it's about time the catholic church is shown in its true light . . . even if it is just hollywood.

Why is everyone so set in saying this movie is wrong. What is it that they don't want us to see or know? You don't have to have someone of the church talk to God for you. Go into a room, pray in a car while you are on your way to work, before you sleep, eat, talk, anyting. He is there to listen. Try it.

I love this movie because it touch very deep into soul I checked about Gospel of St. Thomas - it's true. You dont need church speak to God The kingdom of God is inside You and all around YOU, not in the buildings of stone and wood.

I honestly do not see how anybody can enjoy this. The story is ok, it could be really good, if it weren't for the disgusting and nauseating cinematography. Freakish looking people, ADD/ADHD style editing, it looks like a LSD trip clip made for MTV. I always wonder what the life of directors looks like who make these films. They cannot possibly be normal and functioning people. Otherwise they would not be able to come up with this superweird crap. Expand

Can anyone but a lapsed Catholic possibly be interested in this unpleasant, anti-Papist creepshow?

Busy, over-stylized mess of a movie.
  3. Tom Lazarus and Rick Ramage should be ashamed to have written such nonsense.
