  • Summary: Loic, a young, gay man in Switzerland, fills the emotional void of his turbulent sex life with dreams of self-betterment. When a casual but tender encounter with an older guy presents the promise of emotional connection and validation, Loic arrives at one of the most crucial crossroads of his life. (Picture This! Composed of artfully used split-screen, lots of hand-held camera, and expertly honed dialogue, the film floats on currents of sadness and understated humor. It also makes Loic's existential ache almost palpable.
  2. Loic's journey is rich in incident and detail, and Garçon Stupide retains its dynamic momentum throughout.
  3. Mostly it's tedious as we watch the photogenic but emotionally blank Chatagny bounce between anonymous sexual encounters.
  4. Should we really be so moved and uplifted that a horny, ignorant young man begins to join the human race? Not when our voice of conscience is an off-screen filmmaker issuing pseudo-profound, and ultimately banal, pronouncements about the true nature of love and seduction.

The in depth emtioinal insight into the life of a conflicted 20 year old is profoundly told. There are flaws that give the viewer a bumpy ride and explicitly clinical depiction of his sexual encounters to distract you from the painful coming of age emergence of the sefish self absorbed, wildly insecure child to a sensitive young man, with a too fascile sugery romantic ending to boot . Very French in style, talky, artsty, sad and poignant. Expand
