Watch On
  1. Williamson deals mostly in cliches, as if high schoolers weren't smart enough to appreciate anything subtler.
  2. An ugly, failed attempt to pull off a "Heathers"-style, teen-oriented black comedy.

There is nothing funny about the situation in Teaching Mrs. Tingle.

  9. Williamson's script, which he also directed, is spiteful and shallow.

A mean-hearted, ham-handed and gratuitous effort to exploit it's teenage audience's conviction that, underneath it all, their teachers really. do hate them.
  11. 25
    A spectacularly mediocre movie.
  12. An infuriatingly indulgent piffle of adolescent wish-fulfillment.

    The story is painfully slow.
  14. Lazily written and hopelessly miscast.

This movie should never have been made. Kevin Williamson is strictly a writer, he wrote the screenplays for the Scream series and The Faculty. This movie should never have been made. Kevin Williamson is strictly a writer, he wrote the screenplays for the Scream series and The Faculty. He'd never directed a movie before this one. His lack of experience shows in in how the movie only has Katie Holmes. Also the plot and his direction go nowhere. The movie pitched itself as a dark comedy but the comedy and the darkness of the movie is its downfall not its empowerment. The movie attempted to emulate the other dark comedies that were released that year, Election and Jawbreaker. This movie is utterly incompetent on every reviewable level and the critical reviews were absolutely accurate with this movie. Full Review »
