  1. A wide range of concert and media clips lend vigor and variety to the documentary.
  2. It's hardly a dramatic story. You learn absolutely nothing about her personal life. But there is plenty of drama in that amazing, soulful voice and the songs she sang.
  3. An unabashed celebration of her (Amalia) distinctive voice.

If ever anyone earned the title "diva," it was the late singer Amalia Rodrigues.
  5. Only twice does the film give a tantalizing glimpse at the personality behind the voice.

I caught this accidentally on tv while visiting in the Midwest of all places and couldn't pull myself away from this documentary tho it must have been 3 am. It is superb as is Amalia. I'd never heard of her. I phoned the director a few years ago since I couldn't find it anywhere, but it wasn't yet out and apparently still isn't. Is anyone out there reading this. I need to see it again and own it. Expand
