A wide range of concert and media clips lend vigor and variety to the documentary.
An unabashed celebration of her (Amalia) distinctive voice.
It's hardly a dramatic story. You learn absolutely nothing about her personal life. But there is plenty of drama in that amazing, soulful voice and the songs she sang.
If ever anyone earned the title "diva," it was the late singer Amalia Rodrigues.
De Almeida's latest hagiographic effort diminishes Amália's legend by purifying it.
Only twice does the film give a tantalizing glimpse at the personality behind the voice.
