Delivered with sloppy, gleeful confidence, the movie is smarter than most gross-out comedies but isn't afraid to inspire an "Ewww."

Yet another attempt to mix raunchy excess and romantic-comedy sweetness in an anything-goes raucous farce, The Babymakers offers a few big laughs between ho-hum stretches of frenetic vamping.

The big disappointment of The Babymakers is that it doesn't come close to being worthy of its two stars, Paul Schneider and Olivia Munn.

You may find sperm jokes hilarious, but it's doubtful you'll find them hilarious in The Babymakers, which has serious composition problems.

  1. Olivia Munn is the film's saving grace, but even she's not worth the viewing. From the Broken Lizard comedy troupe, this is a far cry from "Super Troopers" or even "Club Dredd" and closer to a paternal American Pie straight-to-video installment. "The Babymakers" is cliched at every turn and I guarantee you already know the ending and how they got there. If it's not midnight and you're paying, you shouldn't be watching this movie. Expand
  2. This movie was a real disappointment. It began with an interesting premise and was somewhat funny for the first 25 minutes, but it was mostly downhill after that. This film had two main problems. First, although a zany plot can sometimes work in a comedy, when it doesn't, it becomes annoying. That was the case here. The wanna-be plot twists weren't funny or interesting or in any way believable. There were some missed opportunities. Second, while comedies generally don't require Oscar-worthy performances, these actors, with few exceptions, seemed to completely mail it in. They probably knew the movie was going nowhere, but that doesn't excuse what comes across as a lack of effort in what they have been paid to do . Let me be a little more specific: there was no chemistry to be found in almost all the interactions between the film's characters. For instance, the lead husband and wife, supposedly married for three years, acted as if they were on their second or third date or worse, like distant cousins re-connecting after years apart. They never seemed like they would be married in real life. The buddies-hanging-out-at-a-bar seemed like they had nothing in common and would not hang out or trust one one another. The list goes on. 3. The Babymakers a new "comedy" movie. And what happen? The movie is really boring, have much things that we watch in other comedy movies. The trama is terrible and for be worst, have a stupid development. The performances are bad. The Babymakers is one of the worst movies of this year. Expand
