  • Starring: Cole Hauser, Morris Chestnut, Piper Perabo
  • Summary: Deep in the Romanian forest, a team of scientists stumbles upon the ruins of a 13th century Abbey. On further inspection, they make a startling discovery -- the Abbey is built over the entrance to a giant underground cave system. Local biologists believe the cave could be home to an undiscovered eco-system, so they hire a group of American cave-explorers to help them investigate its depths. (Sony) Expand

  1. It's increasingly hard to work up a fright on the screen these days, but even if The Cave doesn't exactly terrify, it's fun and looks great.

Despite the striking underwater photography and production values, much of this feels like Alien: Stalagmite Edition. But if it isn't original, The Cave does demonstrate that you can always elevate threadbare material by keeping your ambitions modest.
  3. The Cave looks pretty cool - if you're into stalagmites, stalactites and that sort of thing -and the action is nonstop once they're in the hole. Unfortunately, there are no reference points in the dark to let us know where everyone is in relation to each other and to the monsters, and, therefore, there's little suspense.

Have you ever noticed how it's always the worst horror movies that go really far out of their way to lay the groundwork for a sequel?

Fun movie to watch. Nothing groundbreaking, but good enough t soak up a rainy Sunday. Better than The Descent, I say!

While this film will never compare to The Descent, it's honestly not a bad monster flick. It was pretty entertaining as a whole even if the storyline and acting lousy. It makes up for these mistakes with lots of monster mayhem and action sequences topped off with beautiful set pieces and wonderful music. This film is a perfect rental and serves as good popcorn entertainment for a late-night horror film. Expand

Would be so much better if it was easier to figure out what has happening. However this film will have you asking whoevers around you whats happening every five minutes and leaves you with a disapointing ending. Proof that films are better if they end with everyone happy. Expand
