A firecracker of a story - sharply written, superbly acted, and fast-paced.

Relentless suspense allows The Girl Who Played With Fire to hold you in a viselike grip. But it's the performances of Nyqvist and especially Rapace that keep you coming back for more.
  4. Director Daniel Alfredson grounds the mystery in a real sense of place: his Stockholm looks and feels like a major city where corruption lurks behind attractive facades. The reporter character is better developed than in the first movie, but most of the supporting characters from the book have been shrunk to little more than walk-ons.
  5. The second film lingers less determinedly on the degradation of Lisbeth and concentrates more on moving the narrative furniture around. The relationship between the main characters is the glue holding the balsa wood together.
  6. A passable popcorn movie, but fans of the first film who expect lightning to strike twice are liable to get burned.

Almost without exception, the men are either sickening deviants or wise mentors while the ladies tend to be kickboxing hipsters or victims of sexual abuse (many are both).

I'm still not entirely sure if I "get" how the beginning of the movie actually ties to the end of it. Fans of the series will love it, fans of the first one will think it's alright, and people completely unfamiliar with any of the Millennium series should probably just avoid it. Expand

Apakah hal ini memiliki pengaruh terhadap kualitas The Girl who Played with Fire jika dibandingkan dengan The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo? Sangat!

Kualitas The Girl who Played with Fire cenderung menurun? Mungkin saja.

Semua orang, termasuk Mikael, kini berusaha menemukan tempat keberadaan Lisbeth.

Ok, so it's not as good as The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo (which is hardly surprising, as the first film bordered on perfection) but The GirlOk, so it's not as good as The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo (which is hardly surprising, as the first film bordered on perfection) but The Girl Who Played with Fire still has a lot to offer. New director Daniel Alfredson takes the story in a more action-centric crime thriller direction, which has merit in terms of pure entertainment, but holds far less intrigue than the dark, gritty murder-mystery that the first film was. The story itself is a little slow off the mark, and can become a little convoluted at times, but manages to find its feet about halfway through. Noomi Rapace continues to prove herself as a formidably talented and versatile young actress, adding further depth to the character of Lisbeth Salander as more of her back-story is revealed, and Michael Nyqvist is still strong, though he's not as essential to the second film's story. While it's never dull to watch, you can't help but think you've seen a lot of things in The Girl Who Played with Fire somewhere before. Unlike its predecessor, the film owes a lot to Hollywood thrillers, and you can spot the films that influenced it a mile off (a bit of The Fugative here, some Bourne there). Though it's for the most part entertaining, it's such a shame that the second part of the Millennium trilogy completely lacks the originality of the first. Expand
