Before I watch movies like "The Haunted Mansion", I usually turn of my sense of humor, because I won't need it anyway. This movie is not it's title worthy. It could have done better, but wait, what? Why I keep saying that? Some movies are just not meant to be perfect; they're made to make young Americans laugh.

Not the worst movie of the year, but COME ON, Disney, you could have done better than that! Granted, the ride at the amusement park doesn't give you much to work with, but if you can't think up something creative, don't make the movie in the first place! The premise of the movie is unrealistic, and just goes from bad to worse... the whole bit at the end with the wife switching bodies was just preposterous. Expand

Lame and pointless but the pre-teen kids liked it. It's sad to see Eddie Murphy having to work with such a weak script filled with cliches and obvious puns. I hope BMW payed plenty for their placement ad!

This film is a lot like the ride: Lightly amusing at best, unsurprising at worst, and thoroughly harmless. Eddie Murphy has not been this easy to swallow in ages!

On the positive side: A) Suprisingly NOT the worst movie I've ever seen. B) Terence Stamp is in enough of the movie to help you get through it. C) The children actors make the kid in Bringing Down The House look good and D) Pluto Nash makes this film look like a gem.

This movie will only mean something to people who have been on the ride, other than that it is mainly for a younger audience. It is sad to admit this being a huge fan of the ride( I live in Flordia). Where is the old Eddie Murphy from SNL!!!

Not sure if I liked The Haunted Mansion. There were some scenes where I liked it and some where I dont. Also, I believe that a movie like this does'nt need to be a PG movie... a movie like this deserves to be PG-13. This is'nt a kids movie for ages 7 and younger. But ovverall I thought the movie was kind of good.

Light-hearted, and just spooky enough to make me jump -- delightful, though (ultimately) forgettable.

This is a joke isn't it? First Pluto Nash followed by this crap? What ever happened to the exciting EM?

I've spent more time than I should trying to figure out what has happened to Eddie Murphey's career. He can be one of the most brilliant comedic actors of his generation (witness his performance in "Bowfinger" or "Beverly Hills Cop," for example). Recently, he has made a string of movies where he is essentially phoning in his performance. Perhaps he is saving up his energy for other films, perhaps he is going through a Woody Allen-esque "I want to be a serious actor" period, albeit while he has roles that are not particularly serious. Murphey's performance in this movie is hardly the weak point (that would be the script) but it is a disappointment none the less. Still, I have had worse times at the theatre. I wish I had had a better time last night at 'The Haunted Mansion.' Expand

Sure, it was mindless, but it gave me a few laffs (no scares). Think Sunday Night Disney Movie. Everybody around me seemed to laugh a lot and a few of the kids seemed scared, so despite the critics, it did what it set out to do, entertain...

Jamal says Eddie bro what the hell are you thinking making this crap? Bro you are better than doing this stuff. It seems to Jamal that all you are trying to do is to make some easy scratch. Bro you better get your career back on track before they show you the door. This Mansion sucked.

It has a simple plot, therefore lacks some originality but I think it deserves some credit in its graphics and entertainment. While not extremely hilarious, it's quite entertaining.

I really don't care what the rest of the people say. This is a great movie for all ages. Possibly a little scary for children under the age of 5 or 6 depends on the child. But over all i give this movie a perfect 10. Jennifer Tilly did a wonderful job as Madame Leota who doesn't have a large part in the ride but provides as a key for the Movie. Eddie Murphy what can i say but wonderful. The kids did a dreat job also. Disney did good justice to the Theme park ride. Great Movie. A must see!!! Expand

It was alright, i honestly was expecting one shitty movie but this was okay. It depicted the ride quite well. Parts were funny. Even though the ride dosent give much to work with it does an alright job of making a somewhat interesting movie. The one thing i thought sucked was the ending... cheesy.

I thought this movie was okay. It could of been better. But I thought that the 2 child actors did a better job acting than the rest of the cast. But I really liked the trivia associated with the ride.

Wow. I detest this movie so much. It's just awful all around and even though I saw it when I was like seven years old I can still recall how there was no point and no satisfactory part of this movie at all

  1. A fright show artfully designed for the whole family, a comedy that all but the most impressionable children will likely get a kick out of.
  2. 20
The film equivalent of the dark, boring period on a haunted house ride before the gondola crashes into another room filled with dirty mirrors.
  3. Tame and witless enough to make me long for the ancient, dusty fright kitsch of ''The Munsters.''
