• Starring: Josh Gad, Rainn Wilson
  • Summary: The Rocker, aka Robert "Fish" Fishman, was the drummer for an eighties hair band. He was living the rock 'n' roll dream... until he was kicked out of the group. Twenty years later, the desperate rocker joins his nephew's band, "A.D.D.," finally reclaiming the rock-god throne he's always thought he deserved -- while taking his much younger bandmates along for the ride of their lives. 1. Wilson is pretty much the whole show. With nobody else around to steal from, he ends up stealing scenes from himself.

  1. This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. by Jared from jaredstuff.com: Which movie should you watch this week? You should watch this one: Rocker, a feel-good comedy from 2008 starring Dwight K. Schrute from The Office, a.k.a. Rainn Wilson from real life. Rainn’s character Fish, the drummer in a rock band, Vesuvius, got kicked out of his band when they were offered a contract if the nephew of the president of the record label could become the new drummer. He then becomes despondent and bitter and works one “soul-crushing†job after another for the next twenty years. After a series of misfortunate events he is without a home and must move in with his sister and her family. His nephew is to play at the school prom and they can’t find a decent drummer, so after much arm-twisting they convince Fish to play with them. Playing again inspires him to revitalize his dreams of rocking and they form a band. They do increasingly well as a band and eventually are asked to open for Vesuvius but Fish refuses due to their previous history of backstabbing and his anger towards them. After a bit of a fallout with his band he comes back to the band and they open for Vesuvius. Everyone loves them and Vesuvius, it turns out, is lip-syncing and they are found out when their equipment fails. Then Fish’s band is cheered back to the stage and they live happily ever after. Also starring Emma Stone, Will Arnett and SNL cast members Jason Sudeikis and Fred Armisen I give this movie 5 stars up! Go pick it up at your local Netflix today. Funny, Great Music, Thoughtful, Touching - What are the critics problems? - They should just start enjoying more and critiquing less. Maybe be a little more like they were when they were younger. This was a very good, thoughtful and funny movie with some pretty darn good talent on screen. Expand

Predictable and lacks originality, but it does have it's moments. Some good music along the way but it gets tiresome midway through. Fair performances. Expand
