  • Starring: Jay Chandrasekhar
  • Summary: "Slammin" Cleon Salmon is a former Heavyweight Champion of the World turned celebrity owner of a high end Miami seafood restaurant, The Slammin’ Salmon. A terrifying bull of a man, Salmon uses fear to rule over his misfit waitstaff and on this particular night, he takes his bullying skills t to a new level. In an effort to pay off a gambling debt to the Japanese Yakuza, Salmon sets up a contest to ‘inspire’ his waitstaff to sell more food than they ever have before: the top selling server wins $10,000 while the waiter in last place gets served with a broken rib sandwich—courtesy of the Champ himself. Spurred on by greed and panic, the staff resort to backstabbing, bribery and indecent proposals in an attempt to upsell their patrons while simultaneously sabotaging their co-workers. As the hours pass, the dining room action becomes more frenzied as the contest escalates into a brawl for first place in order to win the money. (Broken Lizard Industries) Expand

  1. Likably stoopid, the latest from comedy troupe Broken Lizard (Super Troopers, Beerfest) mines plenty of jokes from eating out and being served.

Funny more often than not. Worth checking out on video.

The movie offers enough solid laughs to ensure a decent audience on DVD and cable. That audience could have been even larger, however, were the proceedings just a little smarter and a whole lot funnier.

When is a comedy not a comedy? When it’s not all that funny.

Very funny movie. It was made on a low budget with little writing due to the writers strike. They did a great job with what they had. Michael Clark Duncan was hilarious. Their were some obvious unbelievable occurrences, but if you like the Broken Lizard, you won't be disappointed. Expand
  2. It was actually a pretty funny comedy. The acting was solid, Michael Clark Duncan definently steals the show. There were quite a few laughs through out the film as well. The whole idea of the plot was interesting but poorly executed and it got rather stale at times. Still a solid comedy none the less. Expand

A fun and funny movie. OK, there are some very sophomoric gags. But that's part of what Broken Lizard is all about. All those critics above need a reality check. What did they expect, eh? Wonder how they rated Animal House...? Bottom line, IF you like this type of humor then you will like Salmon. And you will like the other films by Broken Lizard. Expand

This movie would have been perfect had it been release to ride on the wave that was Club Dread, and beerfest and the like. I rememeber that in my inner circles we "waited" for this film, but once we saw if we realise that we got a "cold dish" for us to digest. The only thing that made it possible for me and my comprades able to sit thu this is that fact that we have such a fanfare reverence for the actors... but they need to step their game up. The movie pacing was back and forth, and the site gags, and subplot were.. there... but really should have been more fleshed out. It felt like a movie full of cameos... and not enough time for any one guest to make an impact on this film. Expand
