Bird layers on plenty of dazzle... But his heart is what keeps the story motoring and the ending is perfectly engineered, including a coda that encourages all of us to try harder.
A spectacular ride for most of it, and while you're a little let down at the end, you kind of want to jump back on and do it all over again.

Hilarious, exhilarating and action packed, “Tomorrowland” is your quintessential sci-fi box office bomb. The movie failed to make a profit, but, like so many titles before it, this film presents the beauty of cinematography and the imagination of mankind at its best. This movie has all the trappings of a peak Disney family feature; a time when that company promoted friendship, faith and good will to all men. As such,“Tomorrowland” embodies the hope, excitement and wonder that so many of us feel during childhood. More importantly, it speaks of true love: that, despite our constant arguing, differences and conflict, our friends and family still care, no matter what. Finally, “Tomorrowland” teaches us that we need to let go of, not only our doubts, anger and resentment, but also let go of our emotional dependence on others. That way we can all move forward into the future.
This movie has me smiling wide-eyed and honestly crying at its uplifting message and excellent pace. It has me glued to my monitor in a trance that almost no current Hollywood production can do any longer. Brad Bird and Damon Lindelof: I received your wonderful message and it lives and breathes in my heart. As for you, reader: go with the understanding that, if you keep faith, that the future will choose you. The good people of the world unite to create it.

The movie did a good job of explaining everything. I don't agree with the opinions stating it did a bad job of telling the story of Tomorrowland because it did the job of telling the story of how Tomorrowland ruined the world. Look at it from a child's eyes which is what it was made for. It was a darn good and funny movie.

The wonder of Tomorrowland – and with all its flaws and its hidebound Disney formula, it really is wonderful – is that Bird’s tale of nostalgia for the lost future manages to recapture some of that original, optimistic meaning without losing sight of the newer and darker one.
The thing barely makes a lick of sense. Rapturous on a scene-by-scene basis and nearly incoherent when taken as a whole, the movie is idealistic and deranged, inspirational and very, very conflicted.
When it puts down its copy of ‘Political Philosophy for Dummies’ and focuses on character and action, Tomorrowland is a blast.
The film never adds up to the sum of its parts, effectively a two-hour trailer for a movie I’d still be interested in seeing.
Disney’s gimmick of naming movies for its theme-park attractions crashes and burns in Tomorrowland, a here-and-now caper that will confuse children, bore adults and offend anyone who’s ever taken a science class.

The first 2/3rds of Tomorrowland is a Spilbergian delight, but in the last act the movie completely **** itself with a half-baked conclusion and hackneyed social commentary.

A former boy-genius (George Clooney) and optimistic teen girl really good at science (Britt Robertson) try to save our world. In order to do that, they will have to travel to futuristic parallel world.
A family movie unlike any other. It's has action, effects, verve, exciting concept... It also has ambition and something meaningful to say. And putting young two girl heroes (one's a robot!) in the centre of the story was quite refreshing. But all in all, the movie is so uneven that I can't fully recommend it.
"Tomorrowland" feels never elegants script-wise and the acting style seems kind of hammy (I think it's intentional). But the first act, or about 45 minutes, is really catchy.
A lot is happening then, movie is chock-full of ideas how to take us on a visual joyride. New things are coming in like flood, often way before we are finished enjoying the previous things.
The parallel world is quite cool too, think Luc Besson's cult classic "The Fifth Element" (1997) in a Disney remix. Too bad we get to see actually so little of it.
But from during the second hour, i really started feeling disappointed of seeing so much material to build on (both story and the world) but makers choosing to fill the time with endless mediocre mindless action. The second half turns out to be a bit of a drag, especially final "battle". The movie should really be shorter. Not to mention wasting the message part of the movie, being just "Facebook deep".
Brad Bird is known for near-flawless directing career so far. He is the man behind three animations ("The Iron Giant", "The Incredibles", "Ratatouille") and "MIssion: Impossible 4", all well regarded in their genres. But "Tomorrowland" is messy, having too much material and not knowing where to put all of it. Maybe it was a mistake for Bird to write screenplay with Damon Landelof, the creator of "Lost" which also started strong and ended having way too much of everything.
"Tomorrowland" is based on the Disney amusement parks' areas of the same name, by the way. Just like "Pirates of the Caribbean".

George Clooney couldn't even save this film from bombing like a bad joke. You will forget about this film tomorrow when you see it. You look for something meaningful, even scientific theory or philosophical, but it's all about daydreaming to escape into another world of a future amusement park. Drags like a bad date!
