  1. Smartly directed by Jim Gillespie from a script by various hands, Venom is from Dimension Films and follows its stylish, energetic and darkly amusing horror movie tradition.
  2. 60
Although, in the end, this is basically just a moss-strewn remake of his 1997 hit, "I Know What You Did Last Summer," director Jim Gillespie appears invigorated, sending his capable young cast into a series of nicely staged suspense sequences.
  3. The final showdown between sole survivor and killer is sufficiently well done that you wonder why the rest didn't measure up.
  4. This misbegotten horror film deserved to go direct to video. Or cable. Or oblivion.

Nail Biting from start to finish. Considering some other movies that have made no 1 spot, this should reach there also.

A horror movie explicitly made for fans of the slasher genre who miss what the Halloween and Friday the 13th franchises once were. Here we have an undead, virtually unstoppable killing machine going after a crop of mostly pretty and young actors. It doesn't try to be smart, funny or clever, and so misses where most recent horror movies have failed. Instead, it's a bloody slasher flick. If you like them, pick up Venom. Expand
  3. How bad was Venom? It was so bad, that they couldn't even get things to jump out and scare you at the right time! It absolutely kills me! The story is fairly original with definite potential, the cast is fairly well known, and the movie was just awful! Why? Take your pick between bad writing, cheap special effects, no character development, and a really stupid ending. I like the whole Louisiana Creole background and the mysterious voodoo religion, that no one believe in anymore, but they just didn't take it anywhere. It's 15 minutes of interesting and an hour and 15 minutes of cheesy slasher bull with typical lines, no eye candy, no comedy, nothing! It was quite boring and the ending just... wow! I don't know if it was rushed or if they just didn't care, but it was so stupid!! Venom could have been a lot more, but it wasn't anything worthwhile. Expand

This movie, like The Cave and Cry Wolf, shows why movies may be headed in the wrong directions. I know 14 and 15 year olds who think this movie is amazing. Yes I will agree it is amazing, amazingly bad. Poor direction, plot, suspense and just about everything else. Expand
