Every aspect of the production is nearly flawless, from the production design to direction to the performances, and it all builds to an absolutely perfect ending that's hinted at from the very beginning. If you're looking to get your heart rate up and your mind racing, there are few better ways to spend an afternoon inside than by checking out Windfall on Netflix.
There’s a sense of this being more of a first draft of a stronger picture, one that could have built out those concepts into something more substantive, as opposed to merely scratching the surface. Nevertheless, it’s an entertaining watch, with plenty of peculiar touches.
Windfall is one of those movie that i just don't have any word to wrote or describe it anymore besides "Perfect", Windfall is such a simple intense 90 minutes film that feels like nothing, it's a movie that easily invested, with a story that might sound familiar if you just read it before you watch the movie but boy does it feel like not while you watching it, Jason Segel, Lily Collins, and Jesse Plemons performance was just unbelievable, i also really happy that now Jesse Plemons got more recognition in movies, he's already in a big movies before but his name never really there until finally after I'm Thinking Of Ending Things which is a great film, he did got more recognition, last year he was great in Jungle Cruise, and his latest before this, The Power Of The Dog which is a pretty terrific film, anyway, Lily Collins in one of her best simply, and Jason Segel was just amazing, this movie is incredible, terrific, amazing, intense, scary, realistic, and very **** movie vibe, it's a movie that unfortunately i did have a feeling not will get a lot of attention, especially when it's only on Netflix, it's probably just gonna be a hidden gem, a great Netflix original hidden gem that actually one of the best films of the year.
Plemons amuses as the arrogant billionaire, dripping with disdain for his captor, but both he and Collins are saddled with speeches explaining the essences of their characters, as if they weren’t trusted to do so in their performances.
In the end, about the only thing that could have saved “Windfall” was a really good ending. But what we get is something gimmicky that makes no psychological sense and that the actors cannot make work.
This is very obviously a project that was made because of COVID. It is set in one location and contains only a handful of cast members (The three stars have producer credits as well). I enjoyed it for the most part, because the characters contain enough personality to make Windfall a fun watch.
This movie clearly wanted to be some kind of commentary on like the existence of billionaires and class relations but instead of trying to say anything intelligent about that its mostly just Jason Segel bossing the couple around the house for 90 minutes
