Abigail Breslin

Biography: Abigail Kathleen Breslin, Abbie to her friends, was born on September 16, 1996, in New York City. Following in the footsteps of her older brother Spencer (also an actor), Abbie is easily one of the most hard-working young talents of her time, and before age 12, she had already been compared to the likes of Meryl Streep and Jodie Foster. She filmed her first commercial for Toys 'R Us when she was three years old. She continued commercial work, and in the summer of 2002, Abbie starred in her first feature film, Signs. She starred alongside Mel Gibson, Joaquin Phoenix and Rory Culkin, in a film directed, written, and produced by M. Night Shyamalan.

After Abbie's critically acclaimed performance in Signs, in which she was nominated for the Young Artist Award for best female performance (for age ten or younger), in a feature film, she went on to guest star in the NBC drama, Hack.

In January 2003, Abigail began filming her next feature film, Raising Helen (2004), which also
stars Kate Hudson, brother Spencer Breslin, Hayden Panettiere, and Joan Cusack. The film featured Abbie as Hudson's adorable 5-year-old niece, who--along with her two siblings--is dealing with the sudden death of both their parents.

In October 2003, Abigail began filming another film in Vancouver, Canada, with Makenzie Vega (Alexa's Vega's younger sister,) called Chestnut: Hero of Central Park. This 2004-released movie is a sweet story about two young orphans who are adopted by a wealthy, childless couple, and they smuggle their beloved dog into their posh new Manhattan apartment.

2007 and 2008 were two tremendous years for Abbie. From July 2007 to July 2008, she was seen in one theatrical film after another, including No Reservations, Definitely Maybe, Nim's Island and the coveted title role in Kit Kittredge: An American Girl. At age 12, she also signed on to play the lead role in the 2008 drama My Sister's Keeper with Cameron Diaz and others. Needless to say, Abbie is making a bold mark on the Hollywood scene! You can expect a lot from this talented "cute as a button" kid, and even though she's growing up quickly, she's a very down-to-earth, sweet, and precocious young girl who isn't afraid to enjoy being a kid as long as she can.
