David Paetkau

Biography: Canadian film and television actor David Paetkau, born and raised in Vancouver, British Columbia, is most known for his role as Sam Braddock on the CBS suspense drama Flashpoint. People also recognize him as the lotto winner who got impaled through his eye socket by an apartment ladder in the suspense-thriller Final Destination 2. Before dedicating himself to his acting profession, David spend a year backpacking through Europe and the Middle East.

He made his acting debut with a minor role in the horror flick Disturbing Behavior (1998) which starred Katie Holmes and James Marsden. In 2000, Paetkau landed the co-starring role of Chuck Wheeler, the most popular and feared guy in school, in the comedy Snow Day which featured veteran comedians Chevy Chase and Jean Smart. His other more notable films include the thrillers I'll Always Know What You Did Last Summer (2006) and AVPR: Aliens vs. Predator - Requiem (2007).

On television, David starred in the NBC dramas Just Deal
(2000-2001) as Hunter and LAX (2004-2005) as Nick. He also played the lead character in the Canadian television production Whistler. He portrayed Beck MacKaye, a professional snowboarder whose accidental death and the unraveling of its mystery were the main plot points of the show. David stepped into the role of policeman Danny Turpin in the CW hit series Smallville before he was hired full-time in 2008 to play the rookie member of the Strategic Response Unit on Flashpoint.
