Edgar Wright is an English writer/director, most famous for directing the TV show Spaced and the film Shaun of the Dead.
Edgar Wright began making films at age 14 for the amusement of himself and his friends. At 20, he made his first feature, A Fistful of Fingers which had a limited release and was shown on SKY Movies, a UK channel. This led to directing work at the Paramount Comedy Channel, on shows such as Mash & Peas, Six Pairs of Pants and Asylum, where he first worked with Simon Pegg and Jessica Stevenson.
Wright then worked at the BBC, directing Merry Go Round, Is it Bill Bailey?, Murder Most Horrid, Sir Bernard's Stately Homes and a French & Saunders special. Then came the watershed of his career, Spaced, created by and starring Pegg and Stevenson. A critical and popular hit, Spaced ran for two seasons (1999-2001) and landed Wright BAFTA nominations both years.
2004 saw the release of the film Shaun of the Dead, which Wright directed and co-wrote with Simon Pegg. The zombie-romantic-comedy was a cult-hit on both sides of the Atlantic. The film earned Wright another BAFTA nomination along with a Bram Stoker and a British Independent Film Award.
Wright's next film, Hot Fuzz, also starring and co-written by Simon Pegg, is set for release in early 2007.… Expand
