Jeff Daniels Biography
The 6'3" low-key leading man with a reserved manner and classic blond hair, blue eyes studied at the University of Central Michigan but his desire to be an actor soon took him to New York where he made a name for himself in the theatre.
Daniels won an Obie Award in 1982 for his one man theatre performance in 'Johnny Got His Gun' but his screen debut was in 1981's 'Ragtime'.
His breakthrough movie role however was not to come until 1985 when he was cast to replace Michael Keaton opposite Mia Farrow in Woody Allen's 'Purple Rose of Cairo'.
Daniels has gone on to star and support in a string of hit movies and the diversity of the roles just shows his talent - comedy(Dumb and Dumber), action(Speed), romantic(Pleasantville) the list goes on and on.
He owns the Purple Rose Theatre in Chelsea, Michigan and runs the film company Purple Rose Films.
Daniels is married to Kathleen Treado and they have one son.
