  1. It's a plucky film that covers a lot of ground and uncovers this wonderful, ancient ritual that people of many faiths and from all walks of life take on.
  2. The laughs - Doug tries to take up the pipe, a la Sherlock Holmes - are on the flat side.
  3. No, this isn't how it really happened. But director Charles Martin Smith ("Air Bud") wrings plenty of heartfelt tears and a few laughs out of this fictionalized account.
