Plenty of automotive and beachside real estate escapism, but underneath lurks a funny, fast-moving skewering of the same types of headline-grabbing controversies Roger Goodell would like you to forget. [19 Jun 2015, p.58]
I love this show. It's light, funny, the episodes aren't too long and the performances are good. The characters really grow on you and you will want to see where they are all going with their lives.
I love this show and anxiously look forward to its 2nd season. If some staid fogies from the NFL are complaining about it because it depicts pro life, all the better!
It’s hard to tell whether Ballers means to make the high life seem as rote and empty as it does (my hunch is that the producers and writers are given more to bouts of envy than sermonizing), but the show and its actors are so much better when zooming in on serious matters.
Dwayne Johnson does a good job and the story is very entertaining. Some very good actors appear alongside Dwayne. It has the right rhythm and the comedy is very well written and fits the type of the show.
I'm hooked... Thank you to Mr. Wahlberg and the rest of the crew. Nice one!
Could they possibly add another stereotype to the episodes..
Let's get the nerdy white dude(nerdy agent) and mention that he's done crack or otherwise we'll lose the brothers.
Let's show the poor, exploited professional athlete and all their ho's..
Honestly, I'd probably rate it higher if every little thing didn't wreak of pandering...
Prediction time...
- We'll soon get the **** athlete in the locker room ****'ll be white.
We've got to get the Jewish financier absconding with poor, exploited zillionaire athlete's $$$..to be known as the Bernie Madoff ****'ll be white.
- We'll get the bad white cop killing a relative of one of the ballers..
Anyway, you get my drift..
Personally, I don't understand how any black guys can watch this crap w/o feeling like they're being led by the nose.
Is it supposed to make them forget that in reality they're being given the shaft in our society??
Really?..
Would only annoy me further...
Just my opinion..
Stephen, keep patronizing the brothers until they've had enough and it's cancellation time.
Funny thing is both he and I know that there were no blacks in our high ****
Pathetic...................
I like Dwayne Johnson, and I think he could be good in the lead role on a TV show. I'm not sure "Ballers" is that show. There were elements of the pilot that felt authentic. I think the show is trying to show a different side of professional athletics. But at times, it devolves into something that feels like "Entourage" with athletes, and I didn't care for that.
I gave this show 3 episodes before I have decided that it is pretty crap. If you want to see boobs then better to watch GoT!
The plot is hum drum and it is not using the most out of "The Rock".
