    Brodie's cases tend to dwell as much on mysteries of the heart as on the usual blood-and-guts. It's a nice change and a great start to a delightful franchise.

    [Jason Isaacs] is not the only reason to recommend it, but it is by itself sufficient; indeed, it overwhelms any small arguments in its disfavor.

    Like so many crime novel adaptations, Case Histories leaves the audience with a faint echo of a delightful original, oozing with talent, budget, and location shooting, and almost bereft of compelling content.

    Oozes with style. Well paced and engaging. Its enough to ignore one unnecessary flaw: the plot and characters are so tightly interwoven you would think there are only 20 people on earth and the history of our planet was just 5 days long. The coincidences are ridiculous .. yet despite this drawback the episodes are immensely watchable. It's a shame the writers thought they needed to make everything so interrelated ... it really was not necessary at all.… Expand

    BBC mysteries are all about the journey with characters who are often very flawed but very likable in their humanness. Case Histories is one such show. Although it stretches believability because of all the coincidences, brings to life very interesting characters. Jason Isaacs is wonderful in the lead role of private detective Jackson Brodie who struggles with his personal demons as he tries to solve crimes. The drab Scotland backdrop lends a sense of grittiness long missing from similar American shows. I look forward to more seasons of Case Histories.… Expand
